What's with the statue south of the Shrine of the Forgotten God?
Just found this area. To the south, there's a statue of a guy wielding two great shields, his right arm up in the air pointing northward. His armor has a cloak underneath its plates. There are two braziers in front of him.

Just wondering who the hell he might be. That's such a random place for a statue, and of a guy wielding two great shields no less. Is this some kind of easter egg?

Btw, I already found the journal and the mural of that strange god. The journal doesn't mention the statue. Oh, and also, there's a friendly dude in the area. I can't speak to him as he's like the guards in Homestead, or the ones spread around Blood Grove and the adjacent areas, so he can't tell me anything about the area.

It's a mace. I still don't get it 😬
Basically there have been a decent handful of us that bugged Crate over the years to have a dual-shield wielding mastery made - they determined, however, that it would require a whole lot of work for it to be possible in the current engine - more than they wanted to invest into it - so, this was their answer to it. It isn't really a mastery devoted to it but it does make it "look" like you're doing it.

Hence the joke. The item is actually classified as a mace or whatever but it looks like a shield. So you could then get away with appearing to be dual-wielding shields if you wanted.

It's more of an "in" joke. You had to have been there over the years I guess. I started bugging them for dual-shield mastery way back in late-2013/early-2014 or so. I might have been the first to start it, not 100% sure on that tho as the forum for GD came into existence in 2010 so it's possible it came up prior to my arrival, but there were more than one of us after that banging the drums for it off and on.

I'm standing in front of it and I see no pots. Unless you're referring to othe braziers, which can't be broken.

You must have broken them and had items hidden by accidentally hit the "k" key which toggles hiding items on/off.

Otherwise you'd see the answer in pretty purple.

Is this about the Totally Normal Bulwark? I also have the buckler. Gotta be honest, I don't get the joke or how random the statue is.

"Something something dual wielding shields"

If you want the specifics you'll need to ask on Crates forums though, since my memory's too sh*t from nortriptyline side effects and sleep debt though to remember the details.

Oh, I see. Yeah, most definitely not the kind of joke outsiders would get. I can understand why it's funny if you were there but since I wasn't, I can't say I find it that amusing.

Well, thanks for explaining it!
