FYI, for the chaos version of the ray, look for the Black Flame set.
btw one more question which i still dont know, that set has both aether and chaos, BUT, if i have for example fully converted doom bolt, it still basically chaos but modified by items, so would it damage be affected by both aether and chaos percentages? And if i save aether ray chaos modifier, would both aether damage % ( since i have full convert ) and chaos ( since it it's main source ) affect overall spell damage? I think it should work this way but i don't know for sure, but if it does it's basically twice as powerfull as any of those pure builds.
Why would 50/50 or full conversion make the set useless? It has more Aether bonuses than Chaos and All Damage on each set piece to boot. Clairvoyant has been for a while and continues to be a powerful set. Even without the set the hat is one of the best items in game for anything that needs CDR.
Yea, but the thing i dont understand - this set is basically meant for warlock, but only 2 really "Chaos" spells are aether ray and doom bolt, as people above said, modified aether ray doesnt recieve any +chaos damage bonuses...or does it if it's 50/50? Basically what i want to know is there any reason to have +chaos damage modifier with 40-50% convert? Would it affect chaotic aether ray or not?
1) Conversion can only happen once.
2) Converted damage uses % bonuses from the damage type it has been converted to.
3) Conversion has an order in which each type takes effect: On the skill itself (including skill modifiers from gear) -> skill transmuters (like Tainted Power) -> stuff (gear, auras, etc. and some of this happens before others in this category) -> armor piercing
If you convert 50% of a skill's damage to a new damage type, half the damage needs the original damage type's % bonuses and half the damage needs the new damage type's bonuses. So with only Clairvoyant's conversion, Doom Bolt will want both Aether and Chaos damage bonuses (though more conversion to Aether is optimal).
If you convert Aether Ray with Tainted Power there is no more Aether damage on it even with Clairvoyant's conversion because conversion only happens once - you need Chaos damage bonuses.
Oh right there is also sigil spell with some kind of chaos in it, but i don't really like that spell.
