How do you get the Pet Hoarder achievement?

I can't get above 12 pets, need 18.

If you can get your hands on more items with included Summoning skills then you might hit 18. Examples are Occultist and Wraithmaster weapons that can be found early in the game for extra Minions.

Primal Instinct, a lvl 70 relic allows you to have up to 5 swarmlings.
Then there's e.g. Salazars Sovereign Blade which lets you summon a Harbinger and is pretty easily farmable in the Depraved Sanctuary.

You can get up to 13 skeletons I believe. 8 base, 3 more from items that directly add skeletons, and then 2 more from boosting Undead Legion by a few points. You can also get up to 3 wraiths by boosting that skill. Plus the Blight Fiend modifier that allows you to summon 3, for 19 pets all from necromancer skills alone.

If hellfire mines count then you could summon 6 of those, and two mortars with Demo. Few from items and add necro summons to that.

Ok, The Widow's arcane bombs adds another 6

I have no idea how's Arcane bombs work, it is automaticly will spawn when there is an enemy?

25% chance on attack if you pick whole "Widow" devotion. Takes 1 second to arm as it displays.

How does it look? Like a small Inquisitor Seal, but green.

-8 skeletons (minimum: 1/16 raise skeleton, 12/12 undead legion)
-blight fiend (could have gone for +2 summon with modifier, but forgot and got achieve anyways)
-reap spirit (17/16 for an extra summon)

Items: 8 additional summons
-hysteria relic (+1 summon)
-Black Grimoire of Og'Napesh: lv40 (+1 summon)
-Black Scourge: Lv 50 (100% chance on enemy death, +3 summon)
-bonescavenger deathgrips: lv58 (30% chance on enemy death, +3 summon)

there are several other items and relics that can summon more so you could actually get a pretty big legion going. not usually the best build dps-wise but it looks cool on screen.

got it accidentally when testing that purple crystal one gets at some point in the story line
clicked it a lot to see what happens and popped at that achievement if I my mind does not rick me
