So i've managed to save the kids without killing Nicoh Erin on Normal Difficuilty but failed to do so on Elite. I can swear i've given the same answers during the dialogue. Did i miss anything?

|"Although there are two possible endings, this quest is a purely randomized flavor event, and no dialogue options deliver a predictable outcome."

So what this basically means? There's no 100% to keep this npc alive?

I read on the official forum that his reaction is random, so you can't expect the same outcome from the previous walkthrough.

yep,
already answered -randomized event, to get a sense of chaotic out of control feel in the middle of all the fighting and madness

only way to "guarantee" saving him, is to quit session, and enter again, check convo
(you can back out at any point you see),
if he keeps jumping to the "you're not getting through me"/or whatever, then you just leave without clicking the "no wait" -you either click the top corner X,/or move your character away, reset session and retry until he gives the desired dialogue
spoiler:has no impact on game whatsoever other than static window dressing npc

I couldnt care less if i dont lose anything in the process. I hate to lose valueable npcs.
It's like that weirdo from Act 1 with his boy (doll).

not to pick a fight or anything, but you are even contradicting yourself there.. (since they are not "valuable" thus not losing anything, remotely)

be that as it may, the talk on the forum has been that some appreciate the randomness given the "chaos-out of control"-reasoning, and some don't like it as much (want absolute control)
the general mood tho seem to be that Crate shouldn't apply randomness to actual important/game influencing stuff in the future, -even if this doesn't fall under "importan event turnout"

agree or not with one camp or the other
you just gotta accept sometimes we don't have full controll over everything, -even in a game, likeable or not...
and that there is a reason for everything while making sense, even if there doesn't appear to be a (reasonable) "reason for it" or "doesn't make sense"

(tho the "reset solution" does make it so you have sorta control tho)

and imo the guy from act 1 makes total and utter complete sense in how his interactions/events unfold.... no randomness there whatsoever
