Any other games like Grim Dawn
Since no one seems to be reading past the heading:
ONLY ONLINE MULTIPLAYER, NO SINGLE PLAYER
ONLY ONLINE MULTIPLAYER, NO SINGLE PLAYER
ONLY ONLINE MULTIPLAYER, NO SINGLE PLAYER
ONLY ONLINE MULTIPLAYER, NO SINGLE PLAYER
NO AWFUL GRAPHICS E.G.: 2010 & EARLIER
NOTHING TURN BASED

Could anyone recommend any other games similar to Grim Dawn (or more accurately Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction in play style but with modern graphics) and true to the old aRPG spirit.
I'm looking for some new content to play through until the expansion is released.

Some obvious examples that don't need to be mentioned (even though they are good fun) would include:
  • Diablo 1
  • Diablo 2
  • Titan Quest (or the anniversary edition)
  • Torchlight 1
  • Torchlight 2
  • Magicka 1
  • Magicka 2
  • Hero Siege
  • Path of Exile
  • Borderlands 1
  • Borderlands 2

Games that look cool but are still very much in development and many months away such as:
  • Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem

Some examples that don't need mentioning since 'they suck' (at least in my opinion) include:
  • Diablo 3 becuase it can burn in the deepest, darkest levels of hell
  • Van Helsing 1
  • Van Helsing 2
  • Van Helsing 3
  • All other Van Helsing games
  • Gauntlet
  • Lesabel
  • Bastion
  • Vikings: Wolves of Midgard
  • Victor Vran
  • Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

I'm done with ya.

Just kiddin'. Since you haven't mentioned them, I recommend trying out Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 (with the second aging a tad better than the original) and Sacred (I'm not sure about the 2 and 3). These are oldschool titles. Now, there's also Book of Demons (in Early Access; demo available) which is a homage to the original Diablo but it's quite quirky both in terms of gameplay and story. That's all I can think of right now.

I remember Dungeon Siege 2.

I'd come across Sacred 3 and am asking in the discussions if it actually supports online multiplayer but at least from the store page it seems like a console local co-op game or has the dreaded camera sharing feature.

Book of Demons looked cool but it's a card game and only single player as well. Shame the unique art style an aRPG soul and co-op would've definitely fit the bill

Anyways I'd forgot to mention something I can play in co-op and that has fairly modern graphics so updated the thread.

Dins Curse is the only one I can thing of, without trying too hard, with multiplayer, it doesn't have the good graphics you require though. Soldak's games have demos, and most play out similarly -- might even prefer the zombie or space versions (not sure if Drox Operative has MP).

The game is a blast...if I had a bunch of co-oping friends that don't have their solo nose in other games, ahem, I'd check it out.

The games are on Steam but also here:

As far as Book Of Demons, about all you could do is compete on leaderboards.

Victor Vran, may suck for you though.

Path of Exile. I never liked it because I found it way too loot-focused, but tons of people like it just for that reason.

Ah yea been there done that. Also not too much of a fan since getting good gear to drop is a nightmare and otherwise you're forced to RMT to remain relevant.

Missed that rather well knows suggestion in my list.
You might want to have a look at Divine Divinity. There's an HD version up on steam, pretty cheap, quirky characters and a whole lot of interesting quests in an open rpg world. The hack'n'slay part is quite like Grim Dawn or Diablo. Its perspective might require some getting used to, but the 2D sprites are nice to look at.

That's actually a good suggestion, and one I often forget. From what I saw it was quite nicely put together, I just am not as much a fan of the achievement type set up. Probably in part because I'm not very good at it and because I like a story. But I will finish it one day, seems ideal for co-op though.

Nox and Sacred (and Sacred 2) are all very good. Sacred 3 is hot garbage. They are far more RPG than action RPG, but they are quite good IMO.

Also Kyn. But is is also hot garbage.

Loved Divine Divinity. The death scorpion made my nerd wet dreams come true :)

Divinity Original Sin is decent.
Old schoool Baldurs Gate - graphics are blah but games are good. Any of that series.

I messed around wtih Dins Curse and its so so. Not a fan of the quest system that the townies fight each other if you dont support all the lazy bums.

The other PoE (Pillars of Eternity) - seems decent and its been on my wishlist awhile.

Divinity is great but not really like GD so I didn't mention it, between turn-based combats, lots of reading (which some complain about *shrug* ) and a fair bit more strategy ...at least until you learn the fights. Those whom do like it though, many seem to love co-op. Like GD, I think both games are respectively best in class for the most part.

As for Din, it's definately a niche game but also a game pretty much designed for you to fail sometimes. One reason it promotes more co-op play (when it was more popular anyway) and also just results in some hillarious combinations when it's stuck with.

I love all the classes and ramping up the challenges, though I started quite the easy mode, with no town attacks and so on. It's not a perfect game but I am most amazed how well it works with the random dungeons, quests and all.

I've had some pretty good laughs with it though think it would ultimately be better co-op, esp post level 20-25.

Some of the enemies I think would be great in GD, modified ofc,...the ones that feed off the dead and grow stronger, though they also get on my nerves a bit.

Some of the games mentioned are cRPGs rather than aRPGs. In the Baldur's Gate series, while combat is simultaneous, it can be paused so that you can evaluate the tactical situation and issue new orders in mid combat; I'd call that sort of thing a semi-aRPG. Then there are true turn-based games. The Shadowrun games are representative of the better games of ths type. I'd recommend Shadowrun:Dragonfall and Shadowrun:Hong Kong.

Fate is an old aRPG, which is primitive by GD standards, but might be worth while to look at. One cute innovation is that you can feed your pets different foods, and morph them into various monster types to support you during combat. The map is limited to one structure with many levels, similar to the original Torchlight.

Age of Wonders 3 is an interesting game, with a strategic map for movement, and a nice tactical combat system. Endless Legend is somewhat similar, but has a combined Technology & Magic basis, with tech being somewhat more important.

Fallen Enchantress again has strategic and tactical combat maps. The research part is a bit simplistic, but it's not terrible.

Divinity:Original Sin has been mentioned. An interesting twist is that you create two characters for yourself, and can choose between a number of followers ... but, while your follower's initial professions are pre-chosen, you can modify your hireling's training paths fairly significantly.

Ahh yes, Hero Siege is sorta reminescant of Diablo. Its cheap and has MP and devs are very active and still adding more content.

This one's not finished yet, but it's turning out to be a VERY solid ARPG, and for $10 it's a bargain in terms of value. I HIGHLY recommend all ARPG fans check it out.
