When it was first released, yeah. The expansion improved it though. Of course, it's been doing downhill since the expansion released due to all sorts of things.

Just want to talk about it

So how is Diablo 3 these days? Haven't touched since release except for a single playthrough with Crusader way back when the expansion was released.

I hear all you do is just max out a character with class set in 5 hours and then grind Grifts endlessly.

Well, gearing perfectly might take a week or two, maybe a little longer with certain builds. BUT, you are pretty much just looking for better/right rolls, items themselves are a joke to find.

After that starts the exciting part...naah just joking. You got it right. Endless grind of paragon levels, with basically zer0 thrill or excitement left in the gameplay. You grind for levels, or for ranks in highscore,...or for both...

You also grind rifts so you can actually do grifts (farm grift keys). Its totally different! To be a little more fair rifts are a little different because they are capped in difficulty so you usually use an entirely different build for the rift part (aimed at move speed and a total lack of effort). You will usually run quite a few bounty runs in a season, but that stops after you don't need to reroll gear anymore. High level grifts are tedious beyond belief (stacking every possible multiplicative damage buff and just enough survivability to scrape by... so much hp...) and horribly balanced. Typically only 1 or 2 builds per class can reach high levels, and there is ZERO build diversity (everyone uses the EXACT same items with the EXACT same stat rolls).

D3 has seen better days...

That's pretty much it, And trust me, he made it sound much more fun that it actually is. Grinding noremal rifts/bounties is annoying, but you just have to do it if you want to progress. My friend plays d3 like 24/7, i'm really worried about him...might have to get him help soon.

i stopped playing after season 4 i think. their idea of balancing was kinda whacky from the beginning, but it got a bit too crazy too fast for my taste. all they really do i throw out another overpowered item or two per build each neach season so the dps magically increments by a factor of 2-5 or whatever. and then that build can farm the same conent (greater rifts) a few levels higher.

the numbers got so ridiculously huge that they actually had to implement a system to round them down to keep it somewhat readable. damage numbers went from a few dozen millions to a few billions in the time i played it. i think they are now at season 10. wouldn't surprise me at all if current builds are already in the trillion damage area.

i heard they are going to release an update with a new necromancer class, too. might give it a look, but probably won't play it for long (if i even bother downloading the current version)

Trillion was broken many seasons ago. :D but it depends on builds, some builds like twister wizard could stack sht up and get up to even trillion damage++ per tick. But yeah now the meta is kinda 2 damage dealers, 1 for single target dps and 1 with huge area damage. Area damage mechanics have caused massible lag spikes because servers couldn't handle all the calculations.

I remember when i stacked like all enemies from the map to the same pile with my support barb, and twister wizards comes in...whole games stops for 2~ minutes, and finally when the game continues we are all dead. That kinda killed the game for me, it happened in every season.
