Port Valbury: Floating Aetheral Clouds (killable or just avoid)
I'm trying to do the Outcast's Revenge bounty. I've visted Port Valbury several times (dying at the first "hero" behind the gates), and now/recently have buffed my Lvl 63 Sorcerer with 80% Aether Resistance, so I hope I can finally get to the "boss" I'm supposed to kill. However, there are these floating Aether clouds that you can't fight (or seemingly can't fight). Is this the intention (just avoid them)? It's just a pain-in-the-butt waiting for them to "get out of way" (they typically float around choke-points ... narrow streets/building entrances/fields with narrow paths of grass, etc). Any tips on these floating clouds and completing this bounty? (BTW: I have watched some YouTube videos about Port Valbury, but the characters seem to be very high levels: 85 or so).

Where the hell IS Port Valbury? I quit playing for a while and haven't run across it since I came back.

run to the conflageration on the rigth side of homestead. There is a new area which can be opened with dynamite.

to answer your question: you have to avoid them as there is no way to kill them they work kind of the same way as those "traps" in SoT and those crystal things in BoC.

Hope i helped :)

Thanks for the confirmation (like the Blue traps in SoT and Red traps in BoC). Knowing they act like land-mines/mortars in SoT/BoC make sense (just wanted confirmation). The problem with these clouds is that they move/follow you while the traps in SoT/BoC were stationary... it's such a Pain-in-the-butt. Even with 80% Aether Resistance, these clouds can drain you quickly. Thanks again!

Are they like the aether patches/poison pools where they aren't affected by your standard resists by chance?

I suspect all of those boil down to a % life reduction effect, like Doom Bolt, Bloody Pox, and a few other things have.

If they do, you can reduce the damage with aether clusters. That's what I do on hardcore.

Some higher health regen. and you can basically ignore them.

I killed the boss, completed the Outcast quest, and got most of the map completed, --UNTIL-- I hit an area with poison. I had all my resistance geared to Aether, then there is an area with a large sewer pipe aith acid/poison all around it. I stayed alive for a while, then finally perished. I guess it's time to make another Skeleton Key and try that again. Interstingly, the area with the chest that gives you the Steam Achievement wasn't that hard/bad. It was the poison that finally got me. now more farming for Blood of Ch'thon .. .ugg .. I hate grinding for components.

Crap, there's a box there that gives an achievement? I must have missed it when I ran through earlier.

The Steam achievement "Flames of Valbury" is awarded when you complete the area and open the chest. The chest might be hard to see if you have a lot of loot littering all over the place. It's just to the right of the well and it's a purplish/blue-ish chest from what I remember. There are YouTube videos that show the battle if you search on the achievement name.
