Not sure what I'm missing food-wise...
Because I see few others commenting about the issue I am having, I'm assuming it's me. My population is constantly complaining about lack of food, and I don't seem to be able to correct it. Two games: (tundra, normal difficulty) in the first I had 137 pop, all housed and with 10 soup kitchens nearby, simple meals meat and mushroom, kitchens fully staffed. Just quit another, 37 pop, two kitchens. Always I place the kitchens nearby, and I achieve every objective of supplying 90%. Extra food is going into storage. The constant complaining about shortage is ruining the game for me. Help appreciated. Thx.

And yes, distribution is set to double, plenty of water...

Did you set distribution for all the classes - workmen, craftsmen and specialists?

They have different tabs (and distribution settings) on the people screen.

I only have workmen, the tabs are dark, thank you though...

I'm not understanding why this is happening, but I can tell you that placement doesn't matter (hopefully, that will change).

You don't even need physical access for a building to function; it can be on the other side of the river with no bridge, even.

make sure your workforce and morale is set properly, if workforce drops it doesnt matter if you have 10 kitchens, they wont produce. Your supplying the raw mats so production doesnt stop? Im currently at 450 pop'ish, i have all three classes at fair meals, extra rations with 10000k stored, no issues. roughly 6 or 7 kitchens (upgraded ones) 3 workers each. cake walk for food

You are making sure you have raw food supplied, right? Because without enough of that, soup kitchens won't do much.

Thank you for your replies. I had assumed as much about building placement, but on the last two runs I put them close to rule that out. In an earlier game that went much further, over 900 population I even placed kitchens near far flung work places like mines. I have watched staffing and resource availability and that's not it either. In the longer run game morale was at times over 100, still constant "feed us", I had over 68,000 simple meals in storage. (I know now, not necessary). If even I could easily dismiss the complaints without the whole opening of screen after screen to dispose of it that would help.

I'm having the same problems. I did all the above also but they keep complaining about eating raw food etc

There is a point in the game where they ask you for better food, if you say yes and DONT make them fair meals, they get pissed off with you. Could it be that, I have always made fair meals nearly as soon as I unlock it for the morale boost and i have never seen that issue other then my 1st play where i got low on food.

I think i may have figured it out. They are talking about raw food in the kitchens. they are out of it. your people shouldn't starve, i don't think. Go back and check the kitchens that they are not trying to make something which has no ingredients avaiable.

I'm having similar issues, my Raw food reserves are high and I have 10 Soup kitchens for 450 pop, if I add another kitchen it remains at 106 meals produce daily and fluctuates up and down and with 200+ conssumed daily, it happend so sudden I had 5000 meals in reserve, then the next thing I'm getting warnings I'm low on food?

This discussion solved my problem. I was having the same problem as OP. Didn’t realize you had to select the meal type, not just the quantity.
