add a minimap

Doesn't matter. I view mods as downloadable cheats.
Only when it's added by devolopers by themselves to the game for everyone to able to use it by default.

Yes, many, many mods, are kind of cheats, because it makes the game a lot easier.
But think, using minimap, or using the default map (TAB), it's the same thing, but it's not as stressful.
The minimap mod doesn't break the game at all, it doesn't makes it easier. It makes it more comfortable...
I've got more than 500-600 hours in DS-DST(had another steam account too), and I got to tell you, I don't use the minimap, and I'm just fine.

EDIT: Also, the minimap, being a mod, or being in the default game, it's the same thing ffs...
You consider mods as downloadable cheats? What can you say about mods that fixes some bugs in-game, or helps you with fps, or sickness you got, or mods that just change the textures...?

The rare exceptions.

But as for minimap mod even as insignificant as it might seem to look. You still get in game advantages of using it. Such as during exploring during that night you can undirectly see what's around you. And how easy to navigate and explore on sea in Shipwrecked. (I had to constanly switch back and fourth between minimap and my character to not miss out important objects or islands. Yes it very annoying, but I was following the rules)

For mod not be a cheat - it has to be purely cosmetic with absolute zero advantages.


I remember playing few years ago Slither.Io - a free multiplayer game, where you play as worms/snake that try to eat energy balls and other players. And there was extension/mod that some player use that allows them to zoom out from their normal player view up to entire map. That gave them a huge advantage of viewing where everyone else at any distance, able to ambush or circle players with out them noticing. AND STILL THEY CLAIM THIS ISN'T A CHEAT?!

Well, since this is a single player game, the minimap won't help others, only you.
Being a mod, or being in game by default, the same for me.

Sure. Minimap mod at least isn't as cheat-y compare to everyones favorite extra slot mod

Yep.
I used to have that mod, when I was really noob at this game.
But as I got better, I removed mods, 1 by 1
