Try to verify cache and restart Steam.

Go to your game folder (in the Steam Library, right-click on your game, select Properties, then go to the Local Files tab, and click on Browse Local Files).

From here, open the DXRedist folder, right-click on DXSETUP (or DXSETUP.exe) and click on Run as administrator. Follow along with the installation, clicking Next, Agree, Finish, et cetera.

Go up one folder, back to the dont_starve folder, then open VCRedist. Right-click on vcredist_x86.exe, and Run as administrator. Follow along with the installation, clicking Next, Agree, Finish, et cetera.

Try running the game again.

doesnt work .-.

You might have to delete the install (right-click on title in Steam Library, select Delete local content), then re-install.

If that doesn't work, then I'm not sure what to try. Is your Windows install an English install, or a different language? It might not have the localization configured right, if it is a different language.

Do you have an Nvidia card? If so:

Originally posted by Joew:
Some laptops with NVIDIA graphics actually contain 2 graphics chips, an Intel integrated chip for power saving, and a dedicated NVIDIA chip for high performance uses such as games. Your graphics driver will try to detect which one to use based on the program you are running, but may not correctly detect that the high performance chip is required for Don't Starve.

You can manually set the game to run in high-performance mode, which can improve performance significantly.

1. Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel by right clicking on your desktop and clicking on "NVIDIA Control Panel".

2. Select "Manage 3D Settings" on the left hand list, and the "Program Settings" tab on the right hand side.

3. Under "1. Select a program to customize:" hit the "Add" button.

4. From here, navigate to the folder where your steam games are located. Probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dontstarve\bin

5. Select "game.exe" and hit open

6.Then, under "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:" open the drop-down menu and select "High-performance NVIDIA processor".

7. Finally, hit apply in the far bottom right corner.

If that doesn't work please post your problem in the Klei Bug Tracker forum here: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/forum/62-reign-of-giants-bugs-and-technical-issues/

LuxQSD Jul 2, 2014 @ 10:28am
May i have that download link? How did you figure out the problem?
LuxQSD Jul 2, 2014 @ 11:07am
So you installed that and extracted ONLY "xinput1_3.dll"? You didn't run DXSETUP.exe or do anything else?

Sorry for asking you so many questions. A lot of people are having this same problem and i want a solution so i can spread it out. Thanks for all the help so far.
