Various Shipwrecked update beta bugs
Hello! I have been playing the beta of the new shipwrecked update! I feel obliged to report some of the issues I'm finding. I'm going to try and keep this updated. Here goes:
  • The tar extractor continues to work after running out of fuel. I'm not sure if this only happens when off it runs out of fuel off screen. Character quotes act as if the extracter is off, and the feul gauge looks empty. the extractor can not be turned on or off. however, it's animation will still play and it will still spit out tar. if the extractor is refuled, it can be turned on but will continue to work in its off state. If turned off, it may still not stop producing tar.

  • [FIXED. Yay!] "The Sea Legs" cannon overrides the "turn on" command for the tar extractor. This means you must not be in "The Sea Legs" to turn it on or off. Cannons on other boats may override the command as well, but I haven't tried.

  • [FIXED. Yay!] The sea lab can be flooded! I assume this is the work of tides, as it only happens at night and the first few segments of morning. The lab in question was placed close to the shore, near a jungle. It is not, however touching the shore. Similarly, the floating chimenea seems to be made wet, but is otherwise unaffected.

  • Watterbeefalo/ox can have the ripples around their feet when moving onto land. (old bug, presumably similar or the same as instances of jellyfish/dogfish/ect being found swimming on land, as well as the next issue)

  • Hallucinations can teleport into the water when hit and walk around on the sea. They can't walk back onto land, though they can attack the player.

  • [FIXED. Yay!] Certain actions ( harvesting farms, fertilizing vines, hammering boar heads, maybe more) can be done from roughly 2 or 3 times further away.

  • Jumping in and out of boats near shore can cause momentary wetness at night and the first few segments of morning, even from turfs that don't flood from tides. (old bug)

  • Neutral prime apes that are following the player will flee when the player tries to give them bananas. Neutral apes not following the player will not. Because prime apes are faster then the player, players can not give the apes bananas of they are neutrally following the player. (old bug/oversight in behaviour programing)

  • Friendly prime apes will still try and avoid the player even when agroed on other mobs. ie. the player commands an ape to attack a spider and stand between the two. The ape will attempt to run at the spider, but will flee when it draws too close to the player, causing it to run back and forth without accomplishing anything. (old bug/oversight in behaviour programing)

  • Woodlegs says "I must be goin' banana's down here." when examining regular surface bananas. The quote only makes sense in the context of cave bananas.

  • [FIXED. Yay!] I have heard people say that crocodogs replace hounds in their RoG worlds. I assume this means their RoG worlds linked to SW worlds.

  • Not a bug, but some people (myself included) feel that crocodogs need a louder warning noise. The fist few time crocodog waves approach, the character will have time to say a warning twice before the sound even becomes audible.

  • Manure still makes the noise of buzzing flies when placed in a chest. Standing on the chest makes it go away, the same way to standing on manure makes the flies go away. Walking away from the chest will cause the noise to resume. Walking until the chest is off-screen and then walking back will cause the fly noises to stop. However, standing on the chest and then moving off of it results in the noises coming back.

  • [FIXED. Yay!] The Ship yard may stop working, while the animation plays and the fuel is consumed. Exiting and re-entering boats did not change this, nor did swapping boats at sea. Character quote suggested it had run out of fuel, but fuel gauge was full.

  • [FIXED. Yay!] The text explaining that an alchemy engine is needed to prototype something is missing from the crafting tab. Possibly linked to the creation of the sea lab?

  • [FIXED. Yay!] During hurricane season, seagulls will not land on shore properly. Their shadow can be seen and they can receive damage from canons and Wilbur's manure, as well as drop seeds and item on death. However, they do not fly down from the sky, and perhaps enter their landed state the moment they spawn, leaving them stuck high above.

Anyway, really excited for this update, as well as for the Hamlet expansion!

I'll be placing additional bug in the comments to try and keep this from getting burried in new disscusions
  • Throwing manure at jellyfish will cause them to shock Wilbur.

  • The player may begin to overheat incredably fast when entering the volcano, regardless of cloths. Temperature returns to normal in the shift from day to evening or evening to night. Possible conditions: Dry season. Not limited to: Daytime, first time entering volcano

  • Possibly a bug. Cormarants drop row a diffrent way then birds drop seeds. Cormorants drow row when they land, eat it, and fly away. Other birds drop seeds only when they fly away.

  • Appeasing the volcano may prevent the volcano from repeating it's tremors and rumbling noises until it's next eruption, though characters will still mention it (I think? I'm playing as wilbur so all the quotes are meaningless. On the same note, I'm about to have my base destoyed suddenly.)

  • Entering and leaving volcano resets hound/crocdog wave size for the next 1 or 2 waves, and resets frequency.

  • Krissures constantly play the burning animation and produce light durring dry season, but don't generate heat, deal fire damage, or allow for cooking.

  • Icefling-o-matic will target farms ony after the plant has died, and won't target witherd vines.

  • Waterbeefalo are not hostile, but play their breeding season animation.

  • Homeless bees will try to fly across the ocean to other islands after visiting a flower, or if there are no flowers, or it becomes dusk. Possibly trying to enter other hives?

  • Attempting to use manure as fuel as Wilbur will uneqip his current tool and equip the manure. He will place one manure in the structure, then the manure must be pick out of his equip slot and dragged back to the structure to add another single peice of manure. This process must be repeated for every peice of manure to be burnt. This does not happen for "fertalize" prompts, only "add fuel" prompts.

  • Projectiles with an arcing path [ie wilbur's manure, canonballs] may get stuck in the air on top of ponds.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, just remove the flies sound from manure altogether. erase it, delete it, obliterate it from the face of the earth.

  • The gull on top of the shipyard squacks constantly if you stand next to it. NOTE: I mean stand, not float on your boat. The shipyard must be close enough to shore for this to work.

  • Rainbow jellyfish may ALL get temporarily stuck moving one direction, very slowly.

  • Palm trees may contunue creaking after a storm has passed

  • Purple groupers and perriot fish do not have a dead sprite when placed on the ground, unlike regular and tropical fish. They also can not be placed on a drying rack.

Some bugs I found...

Fleeing tiger sharks run into land and can't move, even after you attack them.

Tiger sharks spawned from dens still flee after taking a certain amount of damage.

Tar extractors turn on on thier own and don't use any fuel (if they have any left), and still turn on even if they don't have any fuel in them.

Sea yards won't heal you if you load a save while already in their healing radius.

Buoys do not have a ripple effect.

Crocodogs and seahounds that spawn together for a 'meat dropped in the water' attack will fight each other, not you.

Also, in RoG, insulated packs still have the wrong map icon.

I can not craft anything on the shore, e.g. the fish farm. I also can not hammer boats anymore. The character runs towards it endlessly, but can apparently not reach it. I tried it in many different places.

Character says "I cant do that" after trying to craft a pirate hat. The ressources vanish however.

What do you mean you can't craft stuff on the shore? Just structures? just the fish farm? All craftable items? If you're trying to place the fish farm on land, that won't work.

Yeah, I've stopped updating the list here and moved my attention the the official bug tracker.

Figure I might as well add the last few bugs I discovered here...

Ballphin palaces have no build hitbox (they can be built as close together as possible).

Octopus chests spawn under the yaarctopus when he pulls them up.

The rope at the top of any sail's masts grows larger when changing from its stationary animation to its sailing animation. Just watch it and you'll see what I mean.

I discovered a bug with the rainbow jellyfish where they will get stuck moving around on land, while still having the moving through water animation
