Don't Starve

Wormwood's tragic vanishing death by allowing a Pog into house (Edit: This is getting rather absurd, I would appreciate if the responsible people were to read a bit of this)
Picture: https://steamcommunity.com/id/demiveemon177/screenshot/779599330352521185

The situation is fairly simple. I was nine days into my Hamlet save (rather early on) and generally flourishing with Wormwood as my player character. I purchased the Slanty Shanty and incorporated a fire pit, two chests and an Alchemy Engine inside the house before changing the carpet, wallpaper and the column in the left corner of the house (couldn't afford to change all columns at the time). The house only had one room throughout all of this.

The pig town I lived in had a stray Pog as a result of me befriending it and leaving it in the middle of the town. It had a tendency of lurking around my house. I was overwhelmed by guilt (obviously) so I decided that I would bring it into my house as a pet.

Steps of the problem:

1. I fed the Pog hedge clippings and befriended it (played the 'befriending' music cue)

2. I entered the Slanty Shanty, causing the Pog to enter along with me. During this the Pog's eyes were normal

3. The Pog began rifling through my chests and started throwing the contents everywhere (immediate remorse), caused some performance issues because he threw out a large amount of items in separate stacks

4. Left the house as Wormwood and bought some items (rocks + grass). Pog did not follow me outside

5. Re-entered house: Pog had acquired red eyes for some reason. Pog continued to rifle through chests (framerate reducing considerably from all of the litter they were producing)

6. I assembled some stone walls in the bottom right corner of the interior of the Slanty Shanty (you see, I was beginning to make a cage for the Pog since they clearly couldn't be trusted)

7. I attempted to place a wooden gate in between two of the walls. I am not sure whether I succeeded or not because Wormwood vanished spontaneously when I tried

8. Delay of several seconds, Pog still being an absolute nuisance without a cage and pouring items out of the chests. Game is beginning to lag considerably, Wormwood is nowhere to be seen and I can't do anything

9. Wormwood suddenly died without explanation, still invisible. No death noise

10. Entered the Game Over screen, meter filled up a bit

11. Game Over screen became frozen (cannot press Main Menu or Retry)

12. I was left feeling considerably betrayed and heartbroken by the whole tragedy

Some system specifications (not sure if this is everything):

Platform: Windows 7 Professional

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2300 CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz

Installed memory/RAM: 12.0 GB

System type: 64-bit Operating System

I can provide anything else, if needed. I've backed up the save file as-well, if that could be of any use

Edit: Wormwood died from Darkness according to the Morgue.

Edit 2 (currently very, very frustrated): This has been a recurring problem for me, where entities will randomly disappear when inside any kind of interior. I vanished as Wormwood inside of my Slanty Shanty and died, a Beautician disappeared from behind the counter of the Mud Spa shop when I bought a healing item from her, and I have suffered two incidents with Walani where I have disappeared without explanation.

I vanished once inside of my Slanty Shanty as Walani, although I was quick to exit the game before I expectedly died. When I reloaded my save I was located in a random place in the middle of the ocean. I used console commands to get back to where I was previously.

When I was abducted by the BFB, still as Walani, I entered the 'escape' sinkhole. I was mining the exit boulder once I had explored the cave, as soon as I completed mining it the screen went black and I died after multiple seconds. There was no sound or visual to indicate whatever had happened, and it is worth noting that I was wearing a miner's hat with durability considerably above 0%, so it was not a consequence of it running out (no darkness message from Walani, no Charlie attack sounds, swapping to a torch made no difference).

I am beginning to have very strong misgivings about this DLC being released from its beta phase, one day after purchasing it no less, because interiors are simply presenting so many unintended, awkward and sometimes game ruining problems.

Wooden gate doors behave very awkwardly inside of interiors, becoming invisible and changing rotation unpredictably. Placing structures like walls also behaves weirdly, fences especially. Then, there is the vanishing player/character problem, which has literally ended two of my save files without any given explanation.

Edit 3 (The travesty in pictures):

Walani starts to take surfing to a new level:

=-=-=SLIGHTLY LESS USEFUL VENTING=-=-=

I am disappointed more than anything else because this doesn't feel like Klei craftsmanship, releasing something from its beta stage with gaping issues in something that's almost integral to the DLC.

I actively feel uncomfortable playing because I don't want to trigger myself to vanish at random before abruptly dying, without any actual error on my part, when I'm customising my house or exploring the underground ruins.

The whole problem just scoops hours of your investment and destroys it suddenly and with impunity. Normally I wouldn't mind that, if I lost for reasons unrelated to the game's stability and more related to how well you've played or the challenge that the game offers. I shouldn't have to resort to trying to back up internal save files to prevent my character from disappearing and forcing me to start over.

I suppose all that I am trying to say is, while I am by all means blown away by the DLC and its creativity, this is an astonishingly huge and poor oversight that I've never witnessed before in a fully released/developed Klei product. I am probably just throwing up vitriol from my sheer frustration, but I hope you can get an accurate, untainted picture of this issue's severity if you're reading.

I like such game blogs adventures!

Bug reports there too:

The wooden gate problems come from the fixed camera angle inside the interiors i think.
Gates are overall DS update content & hamlet DLC is kinda separate content, so i think they never tested that conflicting content through.

In closed hamlet there was even a dark room bug inside the shanty shack & rain & floods inside the interiors. So i guess they made some progress @ fixing stuff?
They still didn't fix the weird color palette change. Vampire waves are still abit awkwardly balanced. Warbucks still didn't get the reworks. Wormwoods is kinda badly balanced character.
For some laptops lag issue within jungle, optimization, etc etc

TL;DR Hamlet is still a trainwreck & maybe wait for end of 2019 for a true 1.0 bug free release
Or maybe in 3 years it will get a huge update of the likes of "home sweet home".
Future will tell how fast bugs will get fixed. Sadly klei is also busy with 3.0 DST & the new biome updates there.
Rumor has it that hamlet only has 1 bug tester / fixer, this is why it is so slow sadly.

PS: Agree @OP klei quality for bug testing & developing games did decline ALOT in 2019 due to hamlet DLC & DST 3.0 rework. Sadly :c
Maybe old team got fired or their design senior got abducted by aliens. :Sacked:

Don't worry, the first Pog technically survived. It's just that Wormwood was tragically erased from existence. I cannot guarantee the same Pog's survival for long, though, because it is constrained in a very very small pen without access to food and no owner. One can always pray for them.

To be fair, Wagstaff's strange, out-of-world, static-y appearance when he's low on health pales in comparison to Wormwood and Walani. Those two can't even live without literally vanishing off of the face of the universe.

I did manage to capture a Pog as Walani for the second time, although you probably understand why that didn't last either because of her deciding to try some kind of imitation of Jesus and her abruptly disappearing into the void, each on two random occasions due to some of the problems that I encountered in the post. The screenshot with the invisible gate was the pen that I had built for them.

The gate issue makes considerably more sense when you consider that the content was ported. I am quite relieved to know that there are other general issues with the DLC though, and that I am not the only one experiencing them. From the sound of some of the fixes that you mention, the developers are making an effort with what they have.

I have played more of Hamlet and fortunately not suffered the same bugs while playing as Wigfrid, so I am more hopeful than when I was filled with grief over being torn away from my Pogs. Until then I will wait for Hamlet's one and only bug tester (of legend no less) to eliminate the various DLC issues.

I still do have faith in Klei as a developer despite my few experiences. If my post isn't addressed here I will likely share it with the official website's forum. Until then, thank you for your response.
