Shipwrecked. Crashing in the Marsh.

I know Shipwrecked has some minor bugs, like grass or twigs not changing when plucked.
But this is the first time I've encountered crashes, and MANY crashes in such a short amount of time during my play of DS.

The only common thing that tends to be going on when it crashes is : I'm in the marsh.
ordinarily I wouldnt attribute a biome to being an issue, but with the windstorms throwing items around, the merms running around, fishes flopping around pools, I'm wondering if there is some sort of item overload crashing my game?
The game has 'stopped working for some reason' 4-5x in 2 hours, each time in the Marsh... I've been slowly clearing out the merms, but this is getting very annoying.
