Why does Don't Starve take so long to load?

The startup time for this game is crazy compared to other games. Even my overwatch on max settings or my skyrim on max settings with over 200 mods installed take less time to startup AND load into than it does for don't starve. All games are on a SSD, but Don't Starve takes by far the longest. It takes literally 4x longer just to get to the main menu even when using zero mods than getting to the main menu of skyrim and loading into my save. It does it on three different PCs i've tried which all are top notch and can run any game out i've tried on max graphics.

Is there some reason for this? Is there some way to fix it?

Obviously, but it's an indie game with much simpler graphics which should be FAR less demanding than AAA titles on max graphics, yet this game acts like it's ridiculously more demanding. So thanks for the snarky reply that doesn't answer my actual question in any way because it's obviously a different game.
