This is Irritating

So, my predicament is that I have to buttons for items now. I can left click to 'Inspect' and right click to 'Equip' or 'Eat'. The usual, except that stupid left click inspect! I dunno what happened, I was playing just fine, but then it started giving me that option, the saddest part is that I was trying to equip my torch at night, but it wouldn't work due to it not allowing me to press left click to equip it in time. Grue killed me, thankfully I had two touchstones for life support.

I need this fixed, how did I cause this 'inspect' button to appear? I've played nearly 100 hours, and this has never happened before. Please assist me!

Hm... Nevermind, it would seem the problem has disappeared miraculously. Quite puzzling though.

it just went away itself... I still don't know what happened though.

Set controls to default. Then restart game. See if that helps. I'll check out klei forum and see if anyone else is having the same problem.

I'm having the same problem. I've never had this problem before.
Then all of a sudden, I start a new game...move two items on my toolbar fine...then it turns into "right click to examine, left click to inspect".
I can't move items. I can't equip anything.

It went away by itself. Very odd. I closed and reopened the game twice. All of a sudden it worked normally.

Its easy to fix, just press tab once.

happened to me, cant equip or move items, only examine inspect. gonna reset game a couple times to see if it "fixes itself"

ok, so basically they're right. if you get this bug just reset game a few times maybe swap worlds would work too? idk. dont worry, this bug literally fixes itself haha.

I'm thinking the Alt key is the problem. you guys might be unknowingly resting your hand on it.
as it is the default button to force inspect. I'd change that button in the DS key bindings to something else.
Hey I have done it before too.:)
I had to turn off the window key because I would accidently hit it sometimes and minimize the game window.

I know this is old but it helped me. It's a problem with "Alt" getting stuck - if you press "Alt + tab" to minimize the game, sometimes it will think Alt is still being pressed when you return. Tap Alt once and the problem is fixed!
