as said the only use this items have is to give it to the pigking. He will give you some gold (between 3 and 5). Other than that you can just lay it on the ground to decorate your base ^^

i like this system^^^makes me renewable weapons (golden axe as example, no spear but ok.)

Or just send pigs in to kill frogs and make jerky out of the frog legs. I ran out of renewable flint in one game so I just saved all ~30 of my flint for use in spears and I switched entirely to gold tools just because that was a renewable resource whereas stone and flint had run out.

Uhh you know that basicly every mineral is now renewable since the earthquakes in the caves drop gold stone and flints on the ground and thus now give you an infinte supply

By endgame you should always be using a darksword. It's a LOT better than the spear and nightmare fuel is easy to farm.
