Tips for shadow monsters?

So far ive kept to keeping my sanity high using top hats etc and then farming beardlings (Insanity rabbits) to acquire the dark essences, but the monsters themselves still cause a lot of damage and problems. Anyone know an especially efficient way to deal with them?

To kill them quicker and take less damage from them you need to make i think its called dark armour and dark sword.

Sebster22, I'm not sure what the problem is. If you go insane just enough to have the beardlings show up you can kill them and get the nightmare essences you need to craft the night armor and dark swords. Don't let your sanity get too low and the other nightmare creatures won't be hostile to you.

You can kill the crawling horrors pretty easily too. Get yourself a logsuit, a spear, and some food. Let yourself go a insane just enough that you can see the crawling horrors (big tick looking things). You can herd one towards the waters edge so you can get close enough to hit it. It will disappear briefly before reappearing and coming to attack you. Just kill it like anything else. They aren't much trouble if you aren't insane enough to make them all hostile to you.

That's the way they programmed the game. Don't get mad at us.

You could always try putting them to sleep with a flute, using ranged weapons, or hiring some Pigs.
