Using the teleportato (what would you bring?)
I'm thinking about using the teleportato to get a new world since i'm on day 260 with all the map revealed and the only cave i got also fully revieled and decent bases both over and underground.
i'm just finishing the last prototypes and crafting some stuff to carry to the other world (crock pot, ice box...)

My question is what items/resources would you pick? Using a piggyback since i don't have krampus i can carry 30 items including a hat and a weapon/tool.

I'll leave my actual list here:
1- 40 grass
2- 40 sapling
3- 40 stone
4- 20 wood
5- 20 gold
6- 10planks
7- 20 ropes
8- 40 charcoal
9- 40 spider webs
10- Fireflies
11- Honeycombs
12- 20 bees
13- Red gems
14- Blue gems
15- Livin logs
16- Pig skins (as mch as i can get my hands on)
17- Bunny puffs (i hate the low drop rate, takes a while to get a nice town)
18- Lantern
19- Stack of slime
20- Tentacle spyke
21- Beefalo hat
22- Breezy vest
23- Walking cane
24- Luxury axe
25- Regal shovel
26- Amulets
27- 40 Hound tooths
28- Stack of food (haven't decided each one)
29- Seeds, probably dragon fruit ones (i love farms)
30- Marble suit

I don't use flint that much thats why i didn't add it.
Tell me what you think.

Also i've put a lot of time in this world, is there anyway to keep the save so i can go back to it if i regret my choice?

Thanks for your time :)

I'm glad you asked! I already put a lot of thought into this:

1. Beard hair
2. Manure
3. Boards
4. Cooked Meat
5. Pig Skin
6. Nightmare Fuel
7. Gears
8. Silk
9. Rocks
10. Spider Hat
11. Purple Gem
12. Living Log
13. Walking Cane
14. Miner Hat
15. Heat Stone

Hand: Tentacle Spike
Head: Tam O'Shanter
Body: Piggyback:

1. Marble Suit
2. Night Armor
3. Dark Sword
4. Gold
5. Fire Staff
6. Ice Staff
7. Dapper Vest
8. Hound Tooth
9. Puffy Vest
10. Beefalo Hat
11. Dapper Vest
12. Amulet

Max stacks whenever possible. And I kind of haven't accounted for cave items yet...

Here's what you used that I wouldn't bother with:
Seeds are pretty easy to obtain, and I don't tend to farm anything other than dragonfruit
Stacks of food are pointless and easy to procure
Grass, logs, and sticks are EVERYWHERE
Charcoal is easy to make
If you already are bringing gold, why clutter up your inventory with tools that are cheap to craft?

Thanks for the tips i just made the list from the top of my head and i guess you're right when it comes to the resources and tools.
The only reason for the charcoal is that i hate cutting trees even with the help of pigs :p

I have both night armor and suit but the sanity loss usually keeps me from using them.
Why do you take a spote for dapper vest? I also have one but never use it :x

I probably wont take any purple gems since i have all the research made already so i wont need it right away.

Gears are a great point since there's not too many in every world and i dind't even thought of that (shame on me)

Charred trees go down in a single hit

Sanity loss won't kill you; health loss will. And there are no items in the game that gradually regen health, only sanity.
Why do you take a spote for dapper vest? I also have one but never use it :x
And that's one of them. Also dapper vest takes a lot of hound's teeth, so I'd rather make it beforehand.
I probably wont take any purple gems since i have all the research made already so i wont need it right away.
The thing about purple gems is that you'll probably find a few from clockwork bishops, and they're ONLY used for a shadow manipulator.
Gears are a great point since there's not too many in every world and i dind't even thought of that (shame on me)
Gears also aren't very useful, but they're sometimes a pain to gather, and the sooner you get an ice box, the better off you'll be.
ABSousa May 28, 2013 @ 3:40pm
At the moment i have replaced the following:
Saplings for extra 40 web (since they burn fast at the begining of a new camp)
Wood for Night Sword
Axe for Nigh armor
Shovel for Nightmare fuel
Seeds for Gears

Still might switch Grass and Charcoal for something else but i'm not a big fan of dapper vest, i can live with the bonus from the amulet.
Might try to get a Tam O'Shanter the next winter and replace one of those 2 things for it.
I might also switch the other one for a full stack of papyrus, i also forget to colect reed.

Also the food i'll be taken will be Bacon and eggs thanks to the 20 to spoil.
My list goes something like this.

1. Grass
2. Sticks
3. Flints
4. Healing items
5. Planks
6. Hair
7. Cooked meat. Combine with hair and planks to make a meat effigy right away. The rest is food.
8. Pig skins
9. Large stack of spoil-resistant food (honey, jerky, or even seeds.)
10. Ranged weapon (fire/ice staff or large stack of darts)
11. Vest for winter
12. Silk
13. Stack of berry bushes
14. Either Reeds or some manure for said berry bushes
15. Spike or living logs to assemble nightmare swords.
16 Teeth

Hands: Walking stick
Body: Piggyback
Hat: O'shanter or winter hat.

Assuming piggyback

1. Gold
2. Gold
3. (If you want) more gold. It ensures you'll never want for science devices or long-lasting tools. If not, stones.
4. Stones
5. Nightmare fuel. Helps you avoid a tedious farm later if you want nightmare items.
6. Ropes
7. Red gems
8. Blue gems
9. Gears
10-12 Bring either bee box materials or improved farm materials.

Don't carry regal tools, use those slots to bring the gold you need to actually make those things.

You can assemble your own amulet in the second world with the gold, red gems, and nightmare fuel you brought.

I bring grass and sticks to avoid wasting the first day harvesting but rather running around as fast as possible to find a good place to setup camp, drop packed items, create tools, and start harvesting lumber.

I haven't itemized for caves. I'm stuck trying to complete adventure mode and haven't been in any yet. That may make a miner's light important if you're going to be jumping into the nearest cave asap, but a torch out of the sticks and grass you bring saves space and works just fine for your emergency lighting, not to mention you'll want to be making one of those to get your charcoal soon making the miner's light pretty redundant.

Log armor is enough if you don't suck

Dapper vest is wasting a slot if you're already bringing teeth. And you don't need one if you have a tam o shanter. If you wear that not even night time will decrease your sanity and that hat lasts forever. The amulet isn't as good as a dapper vest but It's almost the same thing and the amulet is a waste if you're never going to wear it anyway.

Spider hat is junk. All spider dens start out at T1 so a hat is pointless for the first few days. Bringing a stack of spoil resistant food like honey or jerky is a better idea.

I dont know if they patched this yet, but I think before you do items, you should do this.
Lets say you wanted to make a science machine in the next world without having to get the gold since it might be scarce,
Get items to make the science machine and go to the menu, hit place but dont actually PLACE it. The item should be in full color in the crafting menu. You will be able to place it whenever you want in the next world.

Unless you find a cave quickly.

I didnt even know about this, thats great, can you do it more than once?
ABSousa May 28, 2013 @ 4:45pm
Thanks everyone for the tips.

AA2Maui that still works and its one of the things i'm doing building one of everything without placing it.

I'm 80% done with the gathering still open to new ideas tho :)

1. Meat
2. Meat
3. Meat
4. Axe
5. Axe
6. Pickaxe
7. Pickaxe
8. Spear
9. Tentacle Spike
10. Logsuit
11. Logsuit
12. Marble Suit
13. Top Hat
14. 10 Fire Darts
15. Taffies

These are the general things I would get.

As far as i know you can do it as many times as you want, you just need to colect the pieces assemble the teleportato.

Amulet only gives 2 sanity per minute, and even though it revives you, that means you can't use a backpack OR a logsuit, so it's not good for long-term wear, only when you're near death.
The Dapper Vest has the most sanity boost of any Body item (in addition to basically being a straight upgrade of the Breeze Vest), though the tam has DOUBLE the strength (and of course you can stack the two together)

Are you nuts? What are you going to do with all that extra garbage? Meat spoils, tools are easily replaced, and logs are abundant. I wouldn't even bother with the taffies, under the assumption that sanity is maxed when you start a new world. And the top hat is completely worthless once you have the tam o shanter.

All three of these are EVERYWHERE just waiting to be picked. There's no reason to waste three whole slots on them
4. Healing items
5. Planks
6. Hair
7. Cooked meat. Combine with hair and planks to make a meat effigy right away. The rest is food.
8. Pig skins
9. Large stack of spoil-resistant food (honey, jerky, or even seeds.)
Again, other than jerky, I wouldn't bother with food, since there's carrots and berries everywhere
10. Ranged weapon (fire/ice staff or large stack of darts)
11. Vest for winter
12. Silk
13. Stack of berry bushes
14. Either Reeds or some manure for said berry bushes
Wait why reeds? Do reeds fertilize berries? Or was that just random?
15. Spike or living logs to assemble nightmare swords.
I would just take the sword itself unless you have like 20+logs
16 Teeth

Hands: Walking stick
Body: Piggyback
Hat: O'shanter or winter hat.

1. Gold
2. Gold
3. (If you want) more gold. It ensures you'll never want for science devices or long-lasting tools. If not, stones.
You've clearly never met the pig king, have you? And besides, what could you POSSIBLY need all that gold for? Tools only need 2 pieces, and you won't need any more science machines or whatever, plus there's always a ton of rocks or graveyards with gold just scattered around
4. Stones

Or just cut out the middleman and bring a STACK of amulets...

I bring grass and sticks to avoid wasting the first day harvesting but rather running around as fast as possible to find a good place to setup camp, drop packed items, create tools, and start harvesting lumber.
I'd rather waste a day harvesting grass than waste days in the future harvesting rare stuff like Mandrakes or Fireflies that I didn't have room to carry.

Debatable. Sure, in the early days, you won't see many boss mobs, but I'd rather have the option just in case deerclops shows up in the first winter. Or i get caught by werepigs/tallbirds/whatever
Dapper vest is wasting a slot if you're already bringing teeth.
it takes EIGHT of them...and hounds spawn slow in the early days
And you don't need one if you have a tam o shanter.
If you're going to play it that way, just use a tent. I prefer the option to raise sanity faster when I'm not doing anything but waiting for morning anyway, especially in winter.
If you wear that not even night time will decrease your sanity and that hat lasts forever.
WRONG! It lasts 25 days. And they're hard to get, so you'll want to use some teeth to make a sewng kit.
The amulet isn't as good as a dapper vest but It's almost the same thing and the amulet is a waste if you're never going to wear it anyway.
As I mentioned earlier, I wear it when I'm at risk of death. And it's better than running all the way back to the spider nest in mid-winter to reclaim all your crap.
Spider hat is junk. All spider dens start out at T1 so a hat is pointless for the first few days. Bringing a stack of spoil resistant food like honey or jerky is a better idea.
I only put spiderhat on the list because it's somewhat hard to get. However, they don't seem too useful, and I have four of them now, so I could switch that for jerky or something.
