what? I don't understand your question. you just click play to load any save file you already have. it is possible to have more than one at a time. but you must access them from the title screen. I think the game auto-saves after each day passes

but once you die the save is wiped so no permanent save
All I know is that they are under CUpmuter/OSC:/ProgramFiles(x86)/ Steam/SteamApps/common/DontStarve/

Or something like that

I wanted them because the cloud files were different from the ones on my computer. I wanted to make sure that somehow my world didn't get messed up, so I made a backup of my saves.

Thank you so much for this, you're awesome. I was looking for that info for almost an hour in google. Now off to backup and experiment within my (so far) perfect run! thx again

I have the same problem - it says it is saving every new day, but when I died I had to start all over again. I can only press continue and it starts from zero...

You can save your game. It's under Program files x86>Steam>User date>(the game file numbers and user data)>Remote. Make sure to copy every file related to the character slot (It will be numbered) AND the Save Index file. Then paste them to another folder or your desktop, then to restore a game you copy all those files and paste over the ones in the Remote folder.

Side note, this doesn't work well if you are in the Volcano in Shipwrecked because sometimes the ship disappears and you fall into the sea. It does work outside of the Volcano though.

If you have died and there is nothing in the slot, then you need to make a new game. Save and exit, and then copy and paste your old game over the new game you just created. When you boot up the game again the old game will be restored.

The saving is not real saving. When you die you are permanently dead. This game is a rogue-lite with perma death and deletion of worlds. Only way to not get deleted is either wear life giving amulett, spam alot of meaty effigy and touchstones. Or plant magic water

If you dont want permadeath I recommend Compromising Survival. Its a mod that adds the option to load last save when you die or to configure respawning options if your a more casual player
