Easiest Way to Kill a Deerclops
I think the best way out of all the things ive tried is using treeguards, if you have no gun powder. Deerclops does AOE dmg so mobs arent the best way to kill it. Having 2 treeguards you make the deerclops fight it 1v1, then after the first treeguard dies let it fight the second. Im not sure if letting both fight the deerclops at the same time works but It works 1v1s. After that the treeguard should have killed the deerclops and all you have to do is kite the treeguard around

Your way is good but is tedious. You have to basically chop trees over and over to spawn a number of tree guards. Then you have to draw them or a deerclops towards the tree guards. Then you have to try and get a 1v1 situation with numerous tree guards. On top of that you need luck and perfect timing for tree guards to spawn when a deerclops spawns. Not to mention having a few tree guards roaming around before hand will have them scattered so you are essentially leading a deerclops on a wild goose chase. Not the best way I have ever read.

Easiest and most resource friendly way is to use log suits, spear, carry some food that resources health, one straw roll and football helmet (optional) then using perfect timing slash three times retreat, slash three times and retreat again. Rinse and repeat until dead. If either armour or spear is destroyed then simply re-equip from inventory. Once the battle is over, your sanity will be low so use the straw roll and eat any health/hunger boost food the next day.

I have killed three deerclops using this method.

Check out my guide for even more resource friendly tips.

actually the only tedious part is luring the tree guards to my camp. When i am getting my log stock and a tree guard comes I lead it to my camp then pacify it by planting trees. Then it will stay wandering near by camp until winter, not attacking me as long as I dont chop trees near my camp. I currently have 3 treeguards at my base and im ready for winter.

I've yet to see a deerclops. I've played for over 130 hours and gotten to day 191, yet I've never seen a deerclops.

Tooth traps. i killed deerclops with a single hit and luring them to my tooth traps planted around a firepit i just go around the firepit while resetting some of the traps. deerclops get stunned a bit everytime he steps on a tooth trap.

Easiest way to kill him=freeze him with ice staff, plant 9 gunpowder under him, light it up with the torch, run away, wait for him to stop burning (otherwise the meat will drop cooked and the eyeball will burn to ash...which is exactly what happened to me -.-) and finnish him off with spear or tentacle spike or whatever weapon you're carrying.

How is this easy? I found it hard just following your method. Not many people on here will have gun powder or an ice staff early on. There are far more easier ways of getting the job done, some mentioned here and my own in my guide. It's a good way, fun, I would definitely give your way a try but it is far from easy, I would say a better way of explaining it, as less convenient.

First off I'd like to say that this was not my idea, I just saw it on wiki, tried it and it worked. What I like about it is that it's very fast and reliable so you basically don't have to worry about health, sanity, armor, him destroying your entire base or anything like that. It's true that it can be dangerous since deerclops on fire is even worse than just deerclops alone, especially if you, for some inexplicable reason, decide to apply this method in the middle of a forest or your berrybush farm. But other than that I think it's a very decent way to kill him if nothing else.

When you put it like that I can't fault you.

The problem is that you can't make any gunpowder until after the first winter.

Met it on first winter, he killed beefalos. I made boomerangs and finished him with some attacks. So with help of beefalo he was defeated plus I got decent amount meet and wool.

You can, if you build a bird cage quickly enough, feed him couple of morsels and he will drop eggs. Then you just leave them to spoil. I think it takes 10 days or smthing around that.
Mastercow Nov 12, 2013 @ 2:52pm
....... I completely forgot about that...
J20Hawkz Nov 12, 2013 @ 2:59pm
But who is going to build a bird cage that early on? I rather save my meat to make meatballs early on.
Mastercow Nov 12, 2013 @ 3:22pm
I would build a birdcage that early on! That is, if I could find a marsh before day 50 for once...
Gunpowder is just as important as meatballs. You can't blow stuff up with meatballs, and you can't eat gunpowder. Thus, they're equal. My logic is undeniable.
