Don't Starve

Don't Starve

Logically, why can't Abigail be revived?
I mean I know gameplay-wise it's obvious why she can't be. Even if it were possible to have two people at once, as a non-ghost she wouldn't be strong anymore and would just be another mouth to feed, which would essentially make Wendy a useless character.

But technically speaking, why can't Abigail use a touchstone/meat effigy/etc and just come back? It can't be for a lack of body, because when you die and are revived your skeleton stays behind and there can even be multiple skeletons at one time. xD

My theory, is that Abigail died before Wendy was sent off into Maxwell's world. And being twins with Wendy, Abigail tagged along, in spirit.

It could even be that Abby isn't really there and Wendy is fighting all those things by herself.

Another possibility is that the telltale heart follows specific requirements. We know that all the characters have been "augmented" upon entering Maxwells world, if that augmentation is what allows the telltale heart to work- it would make sense that Abigail can't be affected because she didn't receive that change.

Or, perhaps- this Abigail is a fake created by Maxwell, which is why she can't be resurrected...

I'd say the typical ghost notion of 'having unresolved business'.

Abigail may have died in some tragic circumstances that leave her a vengeful ghost, unable to move on or even be revived until, in her own situation - it is resolved or dealt with somehow.

This is also possible considering that the "Nightmare Sword" is actually just a Stick and some Nightmare Fuel. If you look past the supposedly 'magic' nature of the item, in reality you're just poking enemies with a Stick and believing it to be a sword because its made of insanity / nightmares.

Of course some magic items are actual magic, but we really dont know how deep the distinction between magic / pure insanity the things that happen in the world of Dont Starve are.
Abigail died in the real world, in real world Maxwells power is nearly zero.

Even Maxwells magic can't rise from the dead those, who died in real world.

People died in Maxwells world can be returned however, because Maxwell can conrol everything in his world.
Abigails body is not available as she died before arriving in spirit.
The reason the other characters can come back is that their bodies are bound to the Don't Starve dimension.

But it isnt Maxwell's world.

At the end of Adventure Mode at least you find out some interesting things.

Ok, Not the Maxwell's. World ruled by unknown dark creatures, but calling it in another way doesn't change the thing.

It does actually, because you said Maxwell cant revive them.

But said Dark Creatures could. Or they could not. We are not told.

And its not 'The Maxwell's'. He's called Maxwell.
