what i do is get a a floral shirt and an eyebrella. after standing next to an endothermic fire for a bit; i'm able to wander around and explore for a bit over a day without getting overheated. if you started off in spring, then an eyebrella won't be possible to make until you get to winter. in that case, an umbrella will do just as good.
I just had no idea that even at night not being under a tree would fry you. Common sense would dictate that moving at night would make you safe from the sun.
i can keep my things from igniting very easily, wander around freely without overheating, hunt food, and harvest what needs to be harvested.
it's the opposite of winter and is just as easy once you know how.
he doesn't have to mod out overheating since all you really need is an endothermic fire to stand next to for a bit and 2 clothing items to not overheat for a little over a day. exactly the same as winter - stand next to a fire pit for a while with 2 appropriate clothing items.
Anyone who thinks Summer is busted/broke/broken does not know how to prepare and prioritise. Basically you are a newb. I mean that in a good way.
Once you learn how to prepare well in advance for Summer, you should have very little difficulty. I wish I had more time on my hands, I would have updated my guide with both caves and RoG.
Nothing on the wiki says you can die of exposure during night. While it may sound dumb to you because you have played the game, normal people don't connect night with harmful heat rays from the sky. It needs explicity stating if it is infact working as intended because judging by some of the reactions people are under impressing the game is broken or poorly made.
You have a point; The devs can leave summer the way it is, it's like an alternate winter, harsh and frustrating, just the way i like it. However! It would be great if they adhere to SOME form of realism, overheating at night/dusk is ridiculous and unrealistic, I don't have a problem with it being difficult, it just doesn't make sense.
Even if its night nuclear fission is happening under your feet burning you to a crisp, unless the magical sun tree's shadows are on your feet, preventing them from igniting.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ people need to learn about the lore.
Actually this got me to thinking. Right now summer is a pain in the ass but winter is pretty easy. What if summer had a short nighttime but you didn't overheat at night, and winter had a short daytime and you wouldn't freeze during the day? It'd be nice to have a short window of time where you could gather/move around without worrying about temperature death. It would also make more sense.
Then again, at this point any changes would need to be done through modding.
Also, is the sun technically up or down at dusk?
read up above. i listed 3 items that will allow you to walk around and do your daily activities with ease.
endothermic fire pit, floral shirt, and an eyebrella.
the floral shirt requires cactus flowers which only bloom in summer, so you i usually use a chilled thermal stone for the first part of the day while i pick them. after i craft the shirt, you can throw the thermal stone back into the fridge and forget about it, since all you're going to be needing is the shirt, eyebrella, and the endothermic fire pit. summer is just as easy as winter.
yes, technically the sun is still visible during dusk. it's in the process of setting.
Summer, how I hate thee !!!
If you want some tips on how to handle it:
Pretty parasol + any hat + Thermal Stone + Endothermic Fire
Umbrella instead of pretty parasol
Endgame: Eyebrella hat + Ice Flingomatic
