What's the point...
Of tallbird eggs.

You require so much effort to keep it alive and stuff only for it to betray you when it grows into a tallbird? Am I missing something here or is the wiki not giving me the right information.

What's the point of hatching a tallbird egg and growing it?

I'm not 100% about hatching them to full maturity but I guess it'd be to propagate more tallbirds for more eggs? And the egg itself is incredibly useful in the eggs and bacon recipe, since you can use TWO monster meat, 1 tallbird egg, and a twig, and it 100% makes that, instead of having a chance of being monster lasagna.

Eh... that's it, seems a tad underwhelming.

dont hatch 1. it took me like 2-4 days (so i was living of berries, seeds and never left the camp). and once it finally hatched, it was the cutest thing ive ever seen. then i went to gather some honey from my bee farm thingy and got stung by a bee. then the little fool tries to avenge me by getting himself killed on 1 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bee. 1 lonely bee

The point is: it's FUN.

I've never raised one but from the wiki it sounds like when they are juveniles they can help you fight things and follow you around, they sound worthless early on and when they grown up but seem to be somewhat useful when they are juveniles.

well you can also just make a birdcage, catch a bird in a trap and give that bird meat to produce eggs instead of delicatly multiply tallbirds.

Birdcages are incredibly useful in this regard. I always keep one or two spider nests near my base to farm for silk with a lot of traps around it for population management. Get a ton of monster meat as a side product. So I feed it all to my bird and I get more eggs than I know what to do with. This renders tallbird eggs completely useless, as far as cooking is concerned.

And I never bothered trying to hatch one since that seems like a tremendous waste of time if it's just gonna try to eat me when it grows up.

My tallbirds were eaten by hounds after 50 days so I stopped caring about them. It's good farm for krampus i guess.
