What do you do during winter?
I'm curious to know how people survive the winter boredom? I've got nothing to do but wait out each day by the fire because exploring very far is not possible. So it's just wait and consume my stockpiled food... very boring. And boredom is very dangerous... causes me to go do stupid things, like attack pengulls and stuff that just gets me killed.

I tend to alt-tab and look at bigtitys.com and bang one out then return, repeat until sore and winter should be over.

I just hunt for koalephants. Brings in a lot of meat and doesnt cost you any naughtyness.

#9 is #1 for me. Everything else is what I do in-between. For me, RoG Summer is the most dull... all the other seasons (vanilla or RoG) have continual gameplay since I'm preparing for the current season as well as the next.

Sounds like OP hasn't crafted winter gear that allows him/her to do the thing on your (our) list.

this, pretty much.

however, i only hunt the koalafant twice. once before winter and once during. after that, i chase one down to my base and trap him in stone walls as a pet that i never interact with...

I have a thermal stone and the rabbit earmuffs. Everything else is impossible to find before the first winter. Koalefants in particular I have never even seen in the game at all to make those vests out of their trunks. And the other vest requires hounds teeth, a lot of them, and you only get one hound wave before winter and no guarantee they'll drop any teeth at all.

You can just make campfires elsewhere to warm up. Exploration during winter is still very possible, just a lot slower.

Exploring underground, chopping trees i planted nearby or catch rabbits
rolypoly Oct 22, 2014 @ 7:08am
Yeah, rabbit catching is pretty much the only thing I do. I once decided to go chop down the forest of pine trees I planted nearby, but accidentally over-fueled my campfire and ended up burning it all to the ground. Oops.

not true.
in my past few games, i have gotten my winter hat AND a breezy vest before day 10. the more you play, the better you'll get and you will find that getting things earlier while maintaining your hunger, health, and sanity is easier than originally thought.

Spend a day or two in a tree-less area, you'll see koalephant tracks. Trees tend to hide them a bit.

I often find 3-4 koalephants before winter, and cook their trunks for dinner. I only make the Winter Koalephant vest.
