I'm half with you, half against on Reign of Giants. The original DS was getting a bit boring for me, but RoG is a little extreme. Virtually all the easy ways to do things have been removed, and on top of that several of the giants actively seek out your base and destroy it utterly if you don't kill them. But in another month I'll probably be complaining it's boring (actually, no, the Adventure mode is no doubt a complete nightmare).
But I have RSI and have to use a trackball mouse to move my character (I can only use the SPACE and F keys, anything more will aggravate the RSI). So being virtually forced to kite giants is bad news for me, since I can only hit an enemy once or twice before having to dodge, and that's no good against giants. I'll just have to do it the hard way, constantly rebuilding my bases and crafting everything until I can take them down.
In the meantime, back to original DS Adventure world 2 day 131 and I STILL can't find Chester or walrus or the last Thing. Load up with 12 jerky and one more heave. Probably hiding behind the killer bees, so I should take my beekeeper's hat.
I love RoG in general, it got me back into the game, but i hate the combustion thing (or rather i hate when i forget to turn it off). I originally quit playing about a month after original DS release, when Deerclops destroyed my base at day 100+...Haven't met any other giants yet, except the eye tree which i ran like hell from...I suck at this game & rarely make it past 1 summer/winter.
For kiting do you use F key to auto attack? Way easier than trying to click every attack.
I used to like trackballs way more than mice, but don't see em much anymore.
For missing Chester, try auto-reveal map mod...I was reluctant to use it at 1st, seemed too OP, but it became my favorite mod!
