Is there a way to just destroy items?

I have some items that just have a few percent left on their usage. Rather than taking up inventory space, I'd rather just destroy them than use them up but I can't hammer or burn them. Is there another way?

I prefer not having the ground cluttered. I guess I could just make a garbage area a la Animal Crossing GCN.

Maybe a lureplant could eat some of them, I don't think it can eat every item but it's worth trying.

If the items you're talking about are weapons, using them on spiders is a good way to get rid of useless items like tentacle spikes, etc. I personnaly convert the useless spears into staffs. Log suits and grass suits can be thrown into a fire pit to light it to its maximum potential. Other items like beefalo wool, silk, spider glands, etc can be given to a lureplant like I said first. For your old axes (one with 3% left for example), just chop a tree to destroy it. Same for pickaxes. I don't have any more examples in mind, but I think we have enough solutions to destroy all our useless junk :)

Lol? You'd go through all this hassle just because you don't want to use them? You do realise after the item has 0% durability it is automatically destroyed I.e. It is gone forever.

All what hassle? It's more of a hassle to take up precious inventory space and go get hit once so my few percent left on a marble suit can be used.

If you drop them all into a Wormhole, Maxwell will come out and take them. Then say "Thanks fella, I needed these". Then he will give you a fancy hat that makes you click your heels every 10 steps.

If it's a clothing item then you can repair it with a repair kit, so you might want to just hang onto it.

You could always feed it to a wormhole, the garbage dispoal of the island.
