Is there a trick to find buffalo?
I keep trying to find them so I can setup nearby to get manure for farms but I can never find them =( spent 30mins wandering around and didn't find any (I did find about 30 tallbirds nested together though...). Is there any tricks to finding them or is the disadvantage of killing rabbits not so bad as thats the only other constant food source I can think of.

Beefalo are specifically located in the Savanna Biome. It took me a while but eventually I found a decent sized herd. Keep searching. Check out my guide for tips on surviving in Don't Starve.

I've had a map that didnt spawn a very large herd once. Sometimes you do get a bad map. For me, I had two very small patches of grasslands get the herds, so there was no room for more than one herd in either locaiton or for the herds that were there to grow.

Sometimes it's worth just restarting, but you really only need enough beefalo nearby to collect manure for farming. Don't kill more than you need to for making winter clothing, and just let the herd produce manure.

Koalafant hunting is a far better way to get food. I seem to always find them while I am out collecting other necessary materials or exploring, so I keep a boomerang ready all the time. It has worked for me over several different games for hundreds of days so far, even in winter.

I found it after 10 days of wandering around.
And 20 days later I made from them ~60 steaks (thx to fire giant).

its kind on luck sometimes there always a first savana biome there just rabbits normaly. so so you need to find it in a second one. sometimes biomes are hiden behind others biomes. just find a buffalo after a frogs lake biome.
