Don't Starve Opens for a half second and then imeadiatly close whats going on

So I just got dont starve but when i try to open it it opens for about a half of a second and the closes. I dont know whats going on because if it was a graphics error i usaly get a window for that. Also you should know my laptop is almost 10 years old it runs on ubuntu but it is ableto play som 3d gams like minecraft so why is it not able to play dont starve which is 2d ?

Hmm...this sounds familiar to an issue I had when testing Don't Starve on a old computer with Ubuntu installed in it.

I think I know the problem you have with the game.
It has something to do with the game not being able to run some textures or something with your GPU.

It has worked and help many who weren't able to play the game.
Now I don't have ubuntu or anything just so you know and only know this because I couldn't get the game to run on a computer I was just testing ubuntu on.

I never tried this patch (as this predates my issue with the game not running) but I hope it helps you out well. If you still have problems then I recommend creating a thread on here asking for help on the game:

You had a problem on mac eh? You mean have the problem still...

Anyways I don't think the file that I linked to on the forums will help
you as it was designed for Linux, not Mac. =/

I recommend creating a separate post on here or on the klei forums for help on
your issue as I don't know how to fix it for ya.

This game froze up and crashed my computer when I adjusted the refresh rate to 120 Hz.
