what is the best way to deal with frogs
I more or less got killed because 10 frogs droped on my base.
How do I get rid of them without getting overwhelmed

Beefalo. get a group of frogs to aggro against you and lead them to beefalo. Or, if you're Wolfgang, mighty mode those f*ckers. Wolfgang can 1 hit them with a ham shank/dark sword easily.

Just build a few traps and place them around, they'll eventually run into them themseleves. If you don't like waiting, place a trap some distance away from a frog, run to it for a second so you get agroo but run aways before it hits you and lure it to the trap. You can actually place the trap right on top of the frog if you're nimble enough.

If you're like me and you go to extremes for no good reason, then Arson is a pretty fun, if double edged technique.
kiting...
for a great amount of legs.

as suggested above; rabbit traps.

i love frog rains. it's pretty much the game throwing food at you.
for that reason i like huge frogpond clusters. theres no faster way to get meat for crockpoting or gold trading.

Frogs are a great mob to make use of if you can. :) Lead them to a spider nest to farm, into the swamp to make war on the tentacles for skin and spikes, etc. My favorite is when it frog rains and I am around the mechanicals. Those frogs will DESTROY the machines and then tons of free gears for me!

Plus having your base kind of close to ponds will help with hound attacks as well, especially in the spring. Frogs aggro basically anything that comes near them and will engage the hounds for you, which is helpful when they start to multiply to the point where it is not practical to try and kill them all yourself.
