What does Gloomer do?

What is its purpose I broke the statue and later on I found the flower and now I have Gloomer so what does it do?

It stays near the flower, and will follow you if you carry the flower. Staying near Glommer will raise your sanity by 6/minute (iirc). Killing Glommer will raise your naughtiness level by 50 and thus enable Krampus to spawn and steal your stuff

[Phelsarus'Beel]

He has some use.

Most notably he has a Sanity Aura that restores your sanity while you stand next to him.
Otherwise he also drops some Glommer Goop every other day what you can use as clutch healing (for a major Sanitypenalty) and iirc you can also use it to fertilize stuff (but i don't recommend that).

Last use for him is killing him and getting the Wings and the Flower to make the Old Bell what is one of the most powerfull weapons in the game (if you can aim that is). Although try to get Monsters to kill him as killing him yourself will directly spawn Krampus to steal your stuff.

ALso he will always respawn at the Statue during a full moon so don't worry if your Glommer goes the way of the Dodo a few days later and he will be back.

Woodie can get gloomer but it's well complicated.

If you get a Fleshy Bulb (for a Lureplant) and put it next to the Glommerstatue one of the Eyeplants will swallow the flower if you then kill the lureplant quickly enought (within 20 seconds after the eyeplant swallowed the flower) you can make it drop the flower making you able to use Glommer as Woodie.

Again it's hard but doable.

Oh and another thing the goop is great for use in the ice flingomatics in summer, four completely refuels it. I use it as an emergency fuel source that way. One goop will also turn any fire to a full roar, making it a potential lifesaver in winter or in spring during a heavy rain if the rest of your fuel is wet.

I use glommer's goop if it turns night time during Winter and I need a quick way to get the fire going to full strength. Glommer's goop is the best fuel in the game, so it's very good for that (it's equivalent to like 5 logs).
You can also stand right next to him at night to negate the sanity drain, and restore a small amount too. But you need to be REALLY close, so I'd recommend putting the flower right next to your fire pit and leaving him there.

So basically: GLOOMMER IZ BESTE NITE CAMPONION.

yeah, but it'll destroy your stuff in the process. Krampus is really easy to kill anyway (he only has 200 health, so double a spider).

wow he is that easy to kill? does he even lift drop anything worth getting?

His Sack what is the biggest backpack in the game. But don't bother the droprate is so low that you need to kill hundreds of Krampuses to ge it. Otherwise he drops Charcoal.

Also remember that the further you are in terms of days the more Krampuses spawn (i think up to 6 or 8).

You can also just walk Glommer into a Pigvilleage at the Fullmoon. Werepigs really don't like him and quickly smack him without you having to deal with Krampus (that's how i got my Old Bell recently). Only problem is that the Werepigs will eat both the Monstermeat and the Goop he drops.
