STARTING OUT SEASON (First season) - Autumn - exploration season.
Spend most of the time exploring since there is no overhearting or getting cold at this time. Also, there are not many dangers, volcanos asleep, rain is rare, no big waves and because of that most of the time you are safe. So since exploring is safe, do it.
PREPEARING FOR THE WINTER:
I don't find winter near as bad as summer. When maybe 3 days or more are left till winter, make a thermal stone and you will be okay.
Winter (second season) - Don't get too hyped to go exploring now, you had your time besides that some pretty dangerous monsters spawn at this time. Also waves are big, so going for a swim is not the best idea. A good way to spend winter time is to prepeare for a spring. Also the way you're gonna spend your time could depend on where you live. If a pond is near, go fishing or go gather food. (Gather food means ONLY gather simple food, not going for an adventure of finding mandrake)
PREPEARING FOR THE SPRING:
Make a lot of sandbags because they will prevent flooding. Also having an umbrella is a good idea too.
Spring (third season) - During spring it's gonna rain a lot, so try to survive that. THE MAIN ACTIVITY YOU SHOULD DO IS: Prepeare for the Volcano season (summer). PREPEARE, PREPEARE, PREPEARE! Trust me, better now than sorry.
PREPEARING FOR THE SUMMER:
Make a summer vest, and try to stay away from your base (during the summer). Have a lot of food and a good boat, a good weapon and a good armor. Goodluck with all of this.
Summer (fourth season) - season of overheating and a BUNCH OF VOLCANO ERUPTIONS.
So I have typed to stay away from your base. This might be hard, but otherwise you're gonna say goodbye to it. Have stuff to keep you chilled and have a lot of food. A good boat will help you fastly escape that falling lava. I have really nothing else to type so ill just wish you the best of luck!
EXTRA NOTE:
If you weren't careful during the summer, during second autumn you better spend time recovering from the summer and prepearing for the winter.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
2) Stormy Season (Winter): Even though this is the Shipwrecked equivalent of Winter, the temperatures do not drop low enough for you to begin freezing.
There are constant storms in this season, and very frequent lightning strikes that force you to stay near a lightning rod. However, there are calm periods of a few days between storms that give you time to recover. The winds in the storms are strong enough to destroy some structures, notably bee boxes, pig houses and spider dens. However, they can only be destroyed when onscreen and so as long as you keep these things far enough from your base so that you cannot see them, they'll be fine (Remember to keep them protected with a lightning rod in case though!). These structures should only be accessed during calm periods, and NEVER go near them during a storm.
Bees will hibernate during this season, but you can force them to leave the hive and begin producing honey by harvesting the bee box or hammering it (I'd only recommend harvesting it to lure them out however, as hammering the beebox too many times will destroy it).
The storms in this season cause hail to fall from the sky, which can be refined into ice or used unrefined in a crockpot as a filler ingredient for recipes like meatballs or as a substitute for ice in recipes like bananapops. The hail, like ice, can be stored in an icebox and will never melt in here, but unlike ice cannot be eaten (unless in a crockpot dish).
3) Monsoon Season (Spring): This season basically brings heavy rainfall in waves similar to the storms in Stormy Season. However, there are few lightning strikes and no wind, so you're free to access the structures that you've kept offscreen to protect them during Stormy Season.
To keep dry during the monsoons, an umbrella and either a top hat or football helmet is recommended. A combination of the two will gant 100% water resistance (90% from the umbrella, 20% from the headwear), which is enough so that you can walk through puddles without increasing your wetness and so that your wetness will not increase due to rainfall. Alternatively, you can use the double umbrella hat - if you are lucky enough to have found one, that is.
Puddles will begin to form during the first monsoon which will grow to enormous sizes throughout the season. Puddles will flood structures if they form under them, which renders them unusable (particularly bad when something like a crockpot or an alchemy engine gets flooded), and spawn yellow mosquitos which will poison you if they manage to attack you (to kill them, hold down 'f' when they charge towards you. You'll be able to hit them first and stun-lock them, killing them quickly due to their low health). To avoid very large puddles from forming, surround them with sand bags when they first form to prevent them from expanding (or cover the entire puddle with sandbags to make is disappear).
A palm leaf hut near a fire pit or chimnea is very useful during Monsoon season to keep dry during the nights without wasting durability on waterproof clothing.
4) Dry Season (Summer): LEAVE YOUR BASE DURING THIS SEASON! You'll be staying at sea for the majority of Dry Season because regular volcano-bomb showers will destroy almost everything on your screen. This makes it an ideal time for exploring, but, unlike calm season, certainly not an ideal time to work on your base. However, like Stormy Season, remember that your stuff can be protected by keeping it offscreen, so as long as you're a decent distance from base you should be okay.
When a volcano bomb is coming down, a shadow will form on the ground where it will land. Remember to dodge volcano bombs because they will kill you in 1 hit unarmoured (or, if you wear a football helmet, they'll bring you down to about half health). The volcano bomb 'attacks' come in waves, and there are a few warning vibrations before each wave that give you enough warning to get to a safe place (preferably quite far from base). For this reason, it's possible to stay in base during Dry Season and leave only when there's going to be a wave of volcano bombs, but this is very risky and not recommended.
You can overheat in Dry Season very easily too, so it's recommended to get an umbrella, that double-umbrella hat thingie and/or a floral shirt to keep cool. Bringing a few sewing kits with you is a good idea during this season to ensure that your clothing does not break (the floral shirt will rot however, and this cannot be prevented).
Alternatively, you can crash into waves to increase your wetness at sea, which is a very effective way to keep cool at the cost of quickly turning you insane and dealing damage to your boat (which is why boat repair kits are necessary).
To avoid going insane, stock up on cooked green mushrooms and taffy to increase your sanity or harvest brainy matter if you're in need of a big sanity boost (brainy matter increases sanity by 50 at the cost of 10 health when consumed).
It's also a good idea to stock up on food for the season as you'll be spending little time on land. Good examples of food to stockpile for this season are jerky and honey, as they take a very long time to become stale and restore a decent amount of hunger and health. Dragon pie can also be brought as it's easy to accumulate in large amounts, although it's unlikely to stay fresh for longer than 6 days or so and therefore shouldn't be the only food source that you bring with you.
Unlike Summer in RoG, nothing randomly sets on fire during Dry Season so it's not essential to have ice fling-o-matics covering your stuff.
