Easiest way to get gears?

Loot tumbleweed and kill Clockwork enemies.

Digging up graves is very safe but has a low chance of generating gears, much like the tumbleweeds. If you want guaranteed gear drops you'd have to fight the Clockwork monsters for them.

If you cant find clockwork enemies, look in the ruins. They're very abundant, but be careful as the ruins are very dangerous.

Ok the thing with clockwork monsters is as I get near one of them he fires a laser and can 2 shot me. How do you fight them?

Clockwork Bishops can't be avoided or kited. You just need to tank them. Clockwork Knights are 2 hit kite though.

Or bring Pigs, Pigs are your friends and humble allies. Unless you are playing as a certain someone. They just need meat, delicious, juicy tender meat.

Clockwork bishops can be killed easily if it's a 1vs1 fight. Wear armor, bring spear, have high hp, and you will win even if you just run in and swing at random.

Just try to attack before they get aggro'd. The sooner you reach them the sooner they stop shooting you.

His 'lighthnings' can be avoided but only in long distance. :P

Some awesome advice here so far. Also if you spot a clockwork rook (the big horned looking one) line up a clockwork knight/bishop between you and an aggro'd rook and well, you'll see :)

I camped near the wooden thing in winter. Deerclops came and killed all the mobs.

Get a shovel and dig up graves. It's a low chance, but I ALWAYS find gears in a couple of them. And you always get other awesome stuff like gems or grave items (that can be traded to the pig king for up to 9 gold nuggets).

Don't run. Get in close and tank.

get the mod "craftable gears"
otherwise just dig graves or kill clockworks
u can also go really deep underground but that's not my thing

Where do you get this mod and how do you apply it? I think I will add it because my entire game seems to hinge on whether I get early gears or not, and usually I do not.
