Don't Starve

Don't Starve

Couldnt i just live on honey all the time?
I mean make, say, 5 bee boxes, no farms, no berry bushes. Eat honey, or taffy, and use honey poultices for health, and since honey spoils so slowly, I'll have plenty to last me through winter. No fertilizing or upkeep ever needed.

If you get enough fast enough, I suppose so. I always play as the huntress, so it is dried jerky all day every day. Honey is pointless to me, but only because of character choice.

It's not like eating a single food type is bad, in this game.

You mean Wigfrid? I don't have RoG, but I figure that, if you want less work and materials, bee boxes are all you needd. You don't REALLY need most of the recipes, and with a few stacks of honey, you don't even need a Crock Pot until you need Sanity.

Yes You can but in my opinion it is boeing a little bit.

You could. Most people don't though since either A: It's a boring way to not starve or B: other decent crockpot recipes are more convient than constantly right clicking on honey to fill their hunger and C: The seasonal effects of RoG break make the strategy tedious

Starving isn't really an issue in this game. Meatballs for instance can be with a single monster meat and 3 ice (in reign of giants and shipwrecked, that is. It's still incredibly cheap in vanilla). Other things like honey only further demonstrate how starving isn't an issue.

You say boring, I say timesaving and safe. I'd rather be exploring and crafting than constantly babysitting plants. And despite meatballs being "cheap", monster meat rots pretty quickly, even in an icebox

Cooked meat lasts twice as long as raw meat. Honey's great and all, but living just on it will be boreing after a while, and it will take longer than adding it to other foods, since eating enough honey to fill your hunger takes longer than just eating two meatballs or honey nuggets. The meals you can make with it will heal much more than just eating the honey, too.

And jerky lasts twice as long as cooked meat. But that's only half as long as honey.

Okay, it still lasts quite a while, more than enough to make use of it before it spoils.

(Also, no, jerky doesn't last twice as long as cooked meat, jerky lasts 20 days, cooked 15, which is admitabley a bit more than double that of raw)

The wiki says cooked meat lasts 10 days, and jerky lasts 20.

I was reffering to monster meat

Monster meat is days 6 days, cooked is 15 days, monster jerky is 20 days.

that's kind of weird that cooked monster meat lasts longer than cooked meat, considering all other forms are identical. Even Morsel has the same 6/10/20.

That said, is it more efficient to cook monster meat than jerky it?
