Quickest Way To Get Wilbur?

I'm trying to unlock Wilbur, but Prime Apes are a handful. What is the most effective way to deal with them?

Console is how I did it, I hate dealing with monkeys. But befriending one with a banana then have on attack them all and get a crown and get it to wilbur

How to get Tarnished Crown:
Step 1: Get TooManyItems
Step 2: Spawn Tarnished Crown

How to Unlock Wilbur:
Step 1: Use previous tutorial
Step 2: Give Wilbur the Tarnished Crown
Step 3: You now have Wilbur.

I was thinking more along tips that don't involve spawning/mods.

What's the best legitimate way to deal with them?

I just found him while I was doing other stuff so make it not your primary focus. Just play and eventually you will find wilburs body. With the crown you just got to farm the hell out of monkeys. It's Basicly like how you get webber

The monkeys are difficult to actually hit since they run and have good enough pathfinding not to get cornerded at the shore.

Find some monkey huts, hammer them down pick up mats. Give 2-3 monkeys bananas, make them friends and send them to attack other monkeys. War ensues when there are only 1-2 monkeys left wait until night and kill them in there sleep.

You only have to friend 1 monkey to every three you want to fight, and keep in mind if you attack a monkey they will rain ♥♥♥♥ on you which will destroy your sanity.

this is the strategy I always use, though I usually befriend monkeys before hammering their home, as this will trigger their aggro.
