Also, this quote is from JoeW from the Klei Forums and is part of the thread I linked:
but id think you'll be able to keep it after ea
or that's what I heard last time on dev stream
"As planned, the Beta phase of Hamlet ends today.
As a thanks for all your outstanding feedback, all current beta testers will get to keep the game, for free. Thanks for signing up and helping out, you all really knocked it out of the park, and it's very much appreciated.
The price of Hamlet is going to be $6.99. We feel the amount of content that Hamlet has is worth a slightly higher price; we hope you agree! Players will also be able to purchase the new Megapack Plus, which is 33% off all the Don’t Starve franchise content, and you can complete the bundle and only purchase the part you do not currently own.!"
So to answer your question it already ended so you can't access it until it becomes Early Access on November 8.
And they're giving away 12k copies to the beta testers and at the price of $6.99 I'm gonna pass on it.
And whatchu talkin about? $7 is a bargain even at release.
I'd rather pass, wait to read reviews, see gameplay videos of it, or wait for a sale maybe this upcoming autumn/winter.
It also depends on the amount of content the hamlet dlc will add since they're going to raise the price and charge half the base game's value I'd think it should have quite a bit (more than shipwrecked or reign of giants).
And seeing how it's going to be released in Early Access tells me they may half-a.ss it. With the hype it's getting they'll get paid well for unfinished work and may end up leaving it super buggy (like shipwrecked) or with reduced content (hopefully not).
So I'm gonna wait and see.
I am with you.
And only because some people get it for free does not make it a bargain for the ones who need to pay for it.I find it expensive as DST was 6 euros on sale now.I mean DST 6 euros on sale and a DLC will cost 7?
Klei surly is making more then enough money with all the DST events (skins) that is why they are giving 12k copies away for free.
It might seem a cool new content for the singleplayer but ----- its singleplayer.I personally have less then 30 hours on DS but over 1500 in DST,a lot of new players don't even know that DS exists.
Price of 4.99 Euros would have been more then enough for it but ofc,Klei would not be Klei if they don't make most out of it.
I won't buy it this once it comes out for sure.Klei got enough of my money for this year.
I have more than enough cash to buy it. That's not a problem.
I just dont think it's worth $7 especially if it's going to be released in Early Access. Early Access = unfinished garbage in my opinion so asking full price for it is a bit too much. And I don't want to promote laziness by buying an EA title when most devs use it as a get rich quick scheme and end up putting minimal effort into the product later on because they already got paid. And ever since they've started selling stupid cosmetics in DST I wouldn't say I trust them as much anymore.
I'd rather hold off to see how it goes before deciding to buy it and even then I'd rather wait for a sale. If it was for DST where there's actually multiplayer I might have considered buying it. But for solo play it doesn't seem that appealing to me...
And if it's going to be a buggy mess that makes it even less appealing because that's how most Early Access games are. So if they still need to add more content/fix bugs then why are they charging full price?
Lol I have more then enough cash to buy it,I am 26 and I have a family.Very rude from you assuming that people who complain about the price don't have enough money to buy it.Only because you got it for free does not mean that it is cheap for the rest. And my friends enjoy DST not DS same as me.
Plus 7 euros being cheap for indie games? That really depens which one.
Dito.I would most likely buy it for DST once it comes out but for DS I am not really interested.
Agreed. But sadly I don't think they'd add it to DST seeing how they never added Shipwrecked to it.
I've been waiting on some modders to add shipwrecked to DST but they're taking forever.
