Spider Monkeys don't respawn (I think), but Wilson's beard never stops growing. Spider Monkeys are somewhat tricky to fight, but WIlson's beard grows over time no matter what you're doing. Wilson's beard is still helpful, just a little bit less so.
I've only died once to her landing following this because I paniced and did try to avoid the shadow. I've actually had my game end more to the BFB character freeze glitch .
The problem isn't it being hard to avoid, it's just inconsistent and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way to die. I never use revives in don't starve, but from now on I'll have to just to counter the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I just lost a perfect 228 days world to a random stomp. The bird didn't screech once, the shadow didn't show, but I could hear the wings flapping. Since I didn't want my city to be destroyed I moved away to the rainforest nearby like I've done multiple times in other playthroughs and this one. I was literally at the edge of the rainforest waiting for it to land so I could walk in and move on with my day, the beak of the shadow touched me and suddenly the landing animation played out and killed me. It's too instantaneous, and I wasn't standing still either. It feels even worse to think it might have landed faster than normal because I was at the edge of rainforest and it was the landing area's limit. Such a waste of time. Looking for a way to prevent BFB entirely I found this discussion, and now I'm just venting. I know it goes away if you're in the rainforest or the city, but I'm not sure about a player-made city, or how it decides to land or not, so I moved away from mine. It also takes either a long time or straight up until the sun goes down for it to give up landing, I learned this hiding from it the first time I played hamlet, since I didn't know what it was.
