Don't Starve

I have never once found the volcano.
I have every character unlocked in shipwrecked except woodlegs.

I've tried searching the edges of the world again and again. As well as near the corners. I've lost so many runs spending the first 20 days searching.

How can something you need to find by dry season or auto lose be so hard to find?

Always play on the default.

The rainbow jellyfish migrate between the map center and the Volcano around the new moon, so you should be able to find it by following them.

Yeah, it's quite pain in the but. Also keep in mind that volcano only located in Deep ocean biome

Finding Volcano for sacrifices is not necessary for Dry season surival. In fact it will be huge hassle to back and fourth to delay volcano eruption, especially if volcano far away from your island base. Simpler to meet eruption on armoured boat or encrusted boat avoiding meteors or on another island where you don't care if something get destroyed there

Also don't waste first 20 days entireally for searching volcano. You need to find fitting island, build a base and prepare for next season. First 10 days when you can spend exploring, but after that you should think about the base.

Alternative you can try for second attempt during mosoon when ocean calmed down after hurricane season.Prepare for cruise by crafting water proof clothes, gear and sail through.

Don't give up!

The best fun is finding the vulcano in SW especially when u expect it the least.
I given up to "speedrun" the vulcano for first 5 or 20 days of new save.

Change your state of mind. Rather explore and try to make the "best" out of any random map situation.

Firstly you don't require the vulcano to survive dry season. Yes it's harder but totally possible to survive dry WITHOUT VOLCANO. Cool challenge and hard yes, but i did it successfully and i'm noob in singleplayer DS :p

Secondly there are maybe even more helpful and cooler areas to find like the slot machine, paggins pet or even octopus first. Or "perfect base location"

I can't give you tips how to first find something when it's simply random and RNGesus :p

If you really want to speedrun or find vulcano fast make temp throw away save files. Start new file , new char and only play 10 days max. If you don't find vulcano and it's the only thing that matters to you instantly delete this 10 day temp save file. Repeat the process endlessly till you succeed :p
Don't get impatient ^^

Regardless good luck fellow sailor :D

never run into a volcano either
Rio Feb 24, 2019 @ 12:13pm
I've found the octopus, slot machine multi times, I've seen the island that has a skull face due to the stone flooring, I've found the fire staff that starts the volcano, I've found the swordfish, bunch of sea graves,

Its just the volcano that keeps eluding me.

I found it in my 100 day, yeah i took too much time.
You will find it in the side of the map, Pirate hat may help and scope thing.
Gunhaver Feb 25, 2019 @ 2:40pm
is it always on the side of the map? one could use a spy glass among the edge of a map for quick exploration.

It's not always right on the edge, but usually somewhat close to an edge. In this screenshot for example, if you sail along the edge you will go behind the volcano (and not see it) in the NE zone of the map.

Gameplay-wise, it's easier to play dodgeball on land (you can even try 2-3 screens away of your base without much problem) than appease the volcano in dry season. Also, if you have the ice maker, you can get obsidian and the most OP fire pit in the whole game.

For the volcano itself: Only tip that I can give is that the field of view tend to zoom out when you get close so if you're sailing in deep water and the map is zooming out by itself, that means the volcano is close.
I have huge problems finding it too usually. Out of maybe 6 or 7 maps I've found it only once and unlocked Woodlegs after trying to find on my own where the iron key was (after having forgot I had already found it once long ago.)

There was one map where I thought I had explored every important inch of it, and no volcano at that point. I eventually died a few hundred days in.

Don't need to appease the volcano they say, Do we look amused?

I love how the way this game works usually has people using an umbrella during a meteor shower.
