To be fair, if you set up an Ice-o-flinger to cover your base, then nothing will auto-ignite on fire.
Wet season is the worst, imho. It makes draining sanity so much more faster, and depending on your world settings there may not be enough Sanity-giving items to get you to normal status.
+ You also have the option to travel to RoG for the duration of the summer, and you could also spend the summer on a boat, travelling, eating whatever you find along the way, so the meteors hit the ocean and not an island?
Edit: Sure its annoying, but its not exactly unfair.
Edit: I looked on the wikia, and the ice flingomatic only lasts 5 days... Bummer. Atleast the endothermic fire will be easier.
