Don't Starve

Don't Starve

Is Wormwood the most Difficult Character to Play?
So I've been trying to get the hang of Wormwood.
He has some pretty good abilities, some pretty unique downsides.
But the one thing that keeps ending my runs as Wormwood... is the Healing
Wormwood cannot heal using Food. You'd think that's not that bad, but then after playing as Wormwood for awhile you realize just how much you rely on food to heal in Don't Starve.

Your options for healing as Wormwood are as follows:
Spider gland (Vanilla/ RoG/ SW only): 8hp
Healing Salve: 20hp
Mosquito Sack (Vanilla/RoG only): 8hp
Yellow Mosquito Sack (SW only): 20hp
Honey Poultice: 30hp
Red Amulet: 5hp, 20 uses
-
Manure/Guano/ Bucket-o-poo: 2hp (bucket for a total of 10)
Compost Wrap: 30hp (requires 5 poop, 2 rot, and 1 nitre)
-
Tent: 60, 6 uses at dusk (Needs Alchemy Engine)
Siesta Lean-to, 60hp, 6 uses during day (Needs Alchemy Engine)
Fur Roll, 30hp, 3 uses

The hardest days of your playthrough as Wormwood will be before your first base camp is set up, because you will have literally No Way to Heal.
The only way you will be able to reliably heal is with Spider Glands (8hp) and Manure (2hp) in all modes except Hamlet.

So far it seems like the main strategy for playing Wormwood early on is... Run.
RUN AWAY FROM ANYTHING REMOTELY DANGEROUS!
Including Fire.

So what do you think, is Wormwood One Of or 'The' most difficult characters ingame?

Do you have some sort of strategy for surviving as Wormwood?

The compost wrap is surprisingly easy to make, as long as you can find a source of poop (which finding pk or beef is usually in the first 2-3 days for me).

He’s definitely one of the harder if not the hardest character to play.

He shifts the meta quite a bit so adds a bit of flavor for experienced players.

Nope he isn't. If you want challenge & not fitting content play as woodlegs. He is indeed the most terrifying character. He is a challenge, because in RoG or hamlet there are hardly any open water so his OP ship can't help you. He constantly looses sanity on land aka nightmare hell.
Enjoy your short life. If you want to upgrade the challenge i suggest this specific mod together with woodlegs:

Disclaimer find equivalent for singleplayer DS. Playing with limit inv is hilarious challenge ^^

Wormwoods can mass produce dark swords which already disqualifies him as "challenge".
Wormwoods is also a pretty lazy designed character overall sadly :c

Would love to try Wormwood. But I'm not gonna buy Hamlet until they remove Apocalypse. Characters with sanity downsides effects are always far worse for my opinion

You’re unusual bias against Hamlet is showing.

Anyways, playing Woodlegs outside of his designed DLC just sounds boring. Might as well play Wes with mods to make him even weaker if your going to intentionally neglect using his abilities.

aporcalypse clock exists to combat the whole season (officialy the apocalypse can be seen as the fourth season)
but wormwood isn't to hard also ignore redhead on anything related to hamlet he has heavy bias
and i mean heavy that even wolfgang can't lift it up

I know about aporcalypse clock. Which pain in the but to find and go back and fourth to disable it. There is no clock to know when it exactly it happen after you reset it. And Apolypse itself seem to be even worse than Volcano eruption in Shipwrecked. The world become literal hell. F**k that. I play Don't Starve for challenging, BUT FAIR experience. Not easy moded Don't starve or Dark Souls level difficulty like Hamlet. Why can't we have middle ground?

I think SW is the middleground. Difficult, but not too difficult.
