Why Abigail can't attack shadow monsters?
I understand that shadow creatures is only visible for a character only, but Abigail of all companions would make sence to see them and protect Wendy. She is a paranormal ghost who should able to see shadow creatures. Wendy is very weak to fight against Nightmare creatures with out any support and cost my life in ruins since I relied for Abigail to help me kill shadow monsters.

Let's say shadow horrors and the dead aren't on the same plane of existence.

Wendy loses less sanity in the dark and when facing monsters, so it's a tradeoff to have fights at low sanity be more dangerous for her if it's less likely she'll get insane in the first place.

Ruins filled with nightmare creatures. It doesn't matter if you have low or high sanity. They are naturaly spawn in there.
The real tradeoff that Wendy has for having Abigail is disgusting -25% damage penalty. Abigail not very effective against strong enemies such as deepworm or tentacle that can wreck Abigail if Wendy won't help. And against bosses - absolutely useless.

Nightmare creature's aren't really that bad over all unless in a massive group (even then kiting isn't impossible and they can typically be out run until the group shrinks) or with lag/a bad framerate. Plus it's kind of their main mechanic that they can only be attacked by the player, if abigail could attack them it wouldn't be variety, it'd be inconsistent.

It's really not that bad. 68 damage from a dark sword goes down to 51 for her which means just 6 hits for a horror instead of 5 and 8 hits for a terrorbeak instead of 6. Even for a boss like deerclops her reduction equates to about 10 extra hits for her. A full dark sword will still be able to kill 2 1/2 deerclopses, or for a higher health mob, almost 2 beargers.

Not to mention she actually reaches higher DPS than standard characters when fighting with abigail at night. A normal character deals 68 damage x 2 times per second for 136 DPS. Wendy deals 51 x 2 +40 from abigail at night giving her 142 DPS. For your more typical mobs like beefalo, hounds, clockworks, pigs, etc. this definitely comes into play. Being able to hit that on shadow creatures would be a tad unfair tbh.

But if you're really want high damage then use obsidian spears. The bonus damage added from the weapon isn't affected by damage modifiers allowing her to do up to 89 damage per hit.

2 or 3 terrorbeaks always ♥♥♥♥ me up. I can't approach them with out instantly getting hit if I decide to counter attack.

Every extra hit counts in fighting. 1 extra hit can make diffence between life and death in sticky situations or taking extra unwanted damage.

Abigail is very effective against small and weak waves of monsters (Except for frogs, they destroy Abigail :l ) , but against more stronger - she will die very quickly.

all chars have ups and down sides, abigail is no differend, see is good for farming small mobs, at the same time, there is the trade off , for less damage, but all things can be negated if you now what you do !!!

use panflute+old bell, or panflute (sleepdarts)+gunpowder,, use thooth traps,, these things have no penalty !!!!!!!!,, so you are afraid ?? ok hen use those traps,or gunpowder, and lets kill those giants ,easy ,,

for terror's,, i find it a cool fact,, lets assume, terror's and ghosts (are on the same plain off existence,, and thats why abigail won't attck them, see finds them cool :))
