Trapping birds?

Whats a good way to trap birds. I have done it before but now i cant seem to catch any. I placed two traps but no result. Its winter and I need those eggs. Whats a good spot? Can I lure them with seeds?

any spot wil do, place a bird trap, put a seed in it and voila

Don't have any problems with them except I can't seem to get any redbirds to drop feathers when killed. I need some for fire darts to eleminate some killer bee hives. Used up 3 traps and have quite a few black feathers and a couple of blue ones, but no red ones.

ok that worked, never put seeds in them so now they get trapped all the time

for red feathers,, just use a bomerang,

Yes, seeds are used as bait in the bird trap. Using them increases the chance of catching one faster.

If there's no seeds inside of it then it's random and takes a while.

Seeds will lure the bird to the trap. If you are farming birds I wouldn't recommend even using bird traps. Make 2 ice staves or a few boomerangs and hunt them. A teenbird is also a good option if you have the willpower and food. I farmed over 40 blue feathers with a few boomerangs, half an ice staff, and a teenbird.
