Message to Australian Heisters regarding Jacket

Australian Heisters,

When we released Jacket as a playable character for PAYDAY 2 back in 2015, everyone in the PAYDAY community got excited, and rightfully so. Jacket is one of the most interesting characters I’ve seen in any game, and the way we incorporated him into PAYDAY 2, I believe made him justice. Our friends at Dennaton, the creators of Hotline Miami, thought so too.

However. As you recall, Hotline Miami 2 got censored in your home country. This was sad in itself, but there was collateral damage for Australian heisters - you could not get access to Jacket, as he is a promotional DLC you access by purchasing Hotline Miami 2: Digital Special Edition. Indirectly, Jacket in PAYDAY 2 became banned for you. Now, I remember - because I was there - us in the OVERKILL crew got angry. We wanted our Aussie heisters to be able to experience everything PAYDAY 2 had to offer. We felt with you and wanted to help you.

To remedy this, we started sending out free codes for Jacket’s Character Pack to our Australian gang. This, we realized quickly, was a time consuming process. We started doing this 6 years ago, and we’ve been keeping it up since to the best of our ability. As I hope you understand, we have to prioritize how we spend our time, what we work on for PAYDAY. I’m sad to say that we cannot continue this process any longer. Starting today, we are no longer able to allocate the resources to continue extending this offer. As a result, we will no longer be continuing this as of today.

The original way to purchase and gain access to Jacket still remains, so the global PAYDAY community is not affected. Anyone who has already activated a code is not affected. This means that the only way you currently access Jacket is by purchasing Hotline Miami 2: Digital Special Edition.

On behalf of the rest of the team, I’m sorry for any inconveniences caused. If we have anything new to say on this matter, we will make sure you’re first to know. Take care of yourselves, and keep those helmets flying.
