I keep getting shredded in Payday 2
I go on hard mode and i die in like 3 bullets, i know i'm just bad but snipers tear the ♥♥♥♥ out of me, all of my armor (i am wearing two-piece suit so it makes sense) and like 25% of my health in one bullet. Shields kill me in 5 seconds and I'm finding it very hard to stay alive. Does anyone have any tips to keep me from dying just by peeking my head out of a corner? If hard is this hard, then mad respect to people who play on stuff like overkill.

Generally speaking, if you are dying quickly on the hard difficulty you should try investing your skill points you have earned by leveling up and looking into picking a perk deck to play with. Of course another easy way to die less quickly would be to equip heavier armor. If you want specifics or are having a hard time leveling up, the guides tab would have some good ideas on how to complete certain easier heists for levels or where to invest your points to make the game easier.

what perk deck are you using and what level are you?

It's probably a combination of your build and your lack of experience.

Here's a cheese build[pd2builder.netlify.app] that will help you get started (Anarchist + ICTV).

It's a tank on lower difficulties and viable up to DW. I only left you with the bare minimum b/c I don't know what level you are. But you should only need to be like level 46 or something to get it up and running (even lower if you forgo Partners in Crime aced).

Recommend weapon: Grimm secondary with Dragon's Breath rounds; it'll stun almost every enemy while regenerating your armor. Make sure to mod it for less accuracy, more stability, and increased mag size

use the grinder perk deck if youre sticking to low difficulties,
the more damage you deal, the more health you heal, simple

dont think you should use anything meta, just try stuff you like and experiment, youll have a lot more fun

Rogue, cuz i was told it was a good starter, but i don't think it's for me. I'm level 41, i think.

rogue is terrible for lower difficulties, you should use armorer or anarchist instead. Rogue (and dodge in general) is meant to circumvent the ridiculous amount of damage you face in higher difficulties, but on OVK and below damage is just too low to warrant using dodge.

When you get over 200 armor with armorer (or 400 with anarchist!) you'll realize just how low damage on the lower difficulties is.

Duck and Cover + Parkour (both in the middle tree of ghost) + Blending in (the fourth card in every perk deck)

telling new players "yeah you can just solo ds any heist" is a great way to make them hate the game when they, like most people, cannot solo a ds heist.

Do us a favour and just leave your commentary to whatever YT comment thread.

I mean... I've been on those forums for a long time, and have dealt with _a lot_ players, but you're in the top of 'worst comment to listen to'.

OP. The game isn't intuitive, especially in loud, so I can understand your frustration. Even back when Dodge decks were stronger, it's still not a new player friendly mechanic.

My initial starting perk deck advice is Muscle. Since it's not DLC-locked, has a large health pool, and a passive health regeneration. This means mistakes hurt less and you can recover faster. It's not the most powerful deck, but it's one of the more forgiving ones (unlike say Stoic or Kingpin).

The other thing, is that while some decks look like their invincible on the lower difficulties, the real survival mechanic is, and will always be... use cover when overwhelmed. And run away to cover if you need to. Standing your ground and hoping that someone will save you will often leave you in custody.

Rogue is only a good starter if you understand the concept of grace period. Understanding GP and how it work makes rogue a good deck since it can save you lot's of skills point to be use elsewhere.

I would recommend go for CTV/ICTV hitman at this difficulty, it have the best tolerances at this difficulty.

In that case, you want to go for suit or lbv anarchist. However, Crook perk also provide a decent protection in both armor and dodge for this difficulty.

The game have 7 difficulties player can select, telling others to get to level 100 before starting out with difficult heists is already a bad advice in first place.

First of all, you should start with Muscle or Armorer. These are simple perk decks with very straightforward advantages. Second of all, equip the heaviest armor you can get. Don't worry about other playstyles until you get out of the lower difficulties. Pick any weapon that suits your preference. I HIGHLY recommend 60 damage assault rifles when starting out. They're simple, they don't need that many skills, and you can just generally shoot people in the head and it'll work. If you're using something like a shotgun or a pistol, try investing skill points into their respective skills. Most importantly, take cover. Take note of the sound your armor makes when it breaks and program yourself to find shelter when you hear it. Trust me, it'll help.

After reading this forum, your first mistake was picking Rogue as your starting perk deck. It's not a beginner friendly deck so that's your first struggle, and dodge was nerfed a long while ago so its not strong as it used to be which makes using it even on higher difficulties generally a bad move compared to health gating decks.

I recommend you use the Muscle perk deck, as it has good skills and is generally a very good beginner friendly deck. It's easy to learn the game with it, and the deck itself is viable all the way through the hardest difficulties so you can keep using it if that's the deck you end up liking.

As for builds, you dont have to worry about meta conforming since Overkill and below generally allow you to goof off a lot and just make a total goofball setup you can have fun with. Save the min/maxing for when you start going Mayhem and up and just take your time to enjoy the game for the massive meme it is.
