why are people mad about payday2 being on epic?

Issue comes from the networking changes made to support it, Both Steam and Epic players are required to use Epics servers to match-make.
Its mostly not an issue since the game is peer to peer so once you're in a lobby there's nothing needed after that.

Its very awkward to see cant connect to EGS on startup sometimes too, quite a few people aren't able to connect at all.

Quick Edit: A few steam features also no longer work from what Ive heard from reports, invite/join buttons being replaced with matchmaking passwords.

having new players is a positive in general, but annoying for people on higher difficulties
many features will be broken i.e. right now superblt isn't even working
way way more trolls ruining heists

i mean, i have lot of hours here, all the DLC ... so even if i had EGS, then picking it up there for free wont help me, since its only base game, so you still need DLC if you wanna host stuff.

It's very common for devs who release the current game on Epic to make the next one an exclusive over there.
Knowing they also just hastily released a mobile game, it's easy to see that OVK just wants one thing: money and the quality of services will be lower and lower to save money and PD3 will probably be ridden with microtransactions

oh you didnt have to say that of course no ones gonna switch over to egs (hell i have over 2000h i dont wanna redo that to use a worse store)

Nobody hates EOS, it's just the absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ implementation that people hate. No online if EGS is down, distance filter removed, invite system not working, etc.

ehm, it wouldnt be first game, that got pulled even after some pre-orders were sold on steam

as for other thread: do they even have achievs there? (didnt check EGS at all, i just remember, that they have less of the important funcions)

2021 to 2023, for a game that was originally in the works since 2016. Believe me, there's been games that have been released more hastily. Also kinda wild to compare how virtually any mobile game works to a major PC/console release, but you do you.
