Let's talk about Joy.

So far, the key points are:

-Female, Japanese
-Bringing new guns, mask, and perk deck.
-Limited on the Switch

Lets quickly go over the fact that she's Japanese. The fact that she's female doesn't really strike any coincidences, but what other lovely heister is from Japan?

That's right. Jiro! I personally think Joy will somehow know something on Kento. Hyped for the spring event this year. Joy could somehow even be Jiro's mother, but I HIGHLY doubt that.

Next, her guns.I saw nothing but the fact they're an SMG, much like Jimmy's Heathers. More on that sometime.

(Have you noticed lots of similarities share the name starting with 'J'? :)

Next, her mask. Badass, all I have to say. I would love a personal, more intricate pixel customization for it.

Then theres the perk deck. Said to have 'hacker perks'. What is this gonna do? Crack open doors without a keycard? Or is she gonna basically have the ability to use ECM feedback forever?

Switch limited doesn't matter much. Straightforward in February for $50. (double check that someone)

So why does this all matter? We're on PC!

Well, If OVERKILL decides to add cross-platform (please do please do please do!!) that could allow for lots more players to enjoy PAYDAY 2 together. I would love to see PS4 to PC, but the only issue with that, there are lots of things in PC or in console not in its counterpart. So that could cause inconsistencies not story wise, but content wise. That probably why CP isn't a thing for this game.

A hacker character sounds like a fine addition to the roster but I am too wondering how the hell the perk deck would work- If I had to guess though, it'd be a second, free stealth perk deck. Maybe with bonuses relating to cameras and the like.

You mean other than the fact that the PC version is always updates ahead of the console versions?

Do you know Switch has a 1GB patch size limit? Also not to mention how outdated the PS4 version is

Hah, Jiro's mother? Really? Jiro is already in his 60s, and Joy looks way younger probably in the same age range as Sydney. It's already confirmed that Joy is a timed exclusive, so we'll most likely get her during an event, likely having something to do with Kento and Bain's disappearance since the crew is now short on their most valuable hacker, sure we have Locke but judging that they're recruiting a hacker heister to begin with highly suggests that Locke by himself isn't enough. Looking forward to seeing this character and further plot development on Payday's last year of support!

Yeah it was, funny enough it reveals more about the character, -rep for her wearing a shirt that says "we are gamers" lol

I think it's highly likely that she's some sort of fangirl of the Payday Gang who somehow caught their attention (likely something to do with Locke, being a fellow hacker, as well as the recent "padding out" of the Gang for The Secret that Bain was apparently doing when he recruited Ethan and Hila). I don't think the memes on the Deli and the fact that her mask took the design of several of the heisters before setting on her own is just a cute touch for the sake of having one.

I'm also thinking the Hacker perk deck will almost certainly have some sort of passive timer reduction for hacking computers, whether or not that turns out to be the main purpose of the deck. I don't see possible hints in the trailer for any type of specialized equipment, but that could just be a long shot.

I highly doubt she's a blood relation of Jiro. At best she might help us find Kento.

As a side note, I wonder if part of the storyline reason that Joy is joining us is that Bain doing the hacking remotely for us seems to be part of the reason he finally got caught. Having someone on the ground doing the hacking would eliminate the risk of the hack being traced back.

So, I haven't read every single article or thread about this, but so far I keep hearing "timed exclusive" being eventually released on PC. Is there any confirmation/basis for this?

Many times that phrase "timed exclusive" is so nebulous it could mean "only these people have it for a short time before we open it up to everyone" or basically "nope, never again". Which is it?
