Why did they change Chain's voice actor?
Why did they change the voice actor to Chains in Payday 2? Was it because He left, or was his voice just bland/unfitting?

If I recall, Pete Gold had just become a father and wasn't sure he wanted to be back at the time, so they opted for Derek Ray. Likewise, Simon Kerr and Howard Thompson weren't available when they were doing the web series and sequel which led to Eric Etebari and Daimon Poitier filling those roles. Simon Kerr was brought back rather quickly when people weren't happy over his portrayal of Dallas and the man's schedule opened up, but people generally liked Daimon as Chains to he was kept.

I don't know the exact reason, but TBH I like Poitier more.

Probably because he sounded like he smoked a pack of cigarettes every minute.

Dallas has never sounded like Old Chains. He's a bit raspy, for sure, but Dallas doesn't sound like that.

If I had to guess, it's because all of the PD:TH voice actors sound terrible, sans Pete Gold. And even then, I'm not sure if PD:TH Pete Gold sounds much better than the rest or if he just sounds much more British and thus much more memorable.

And yes, I'm including Ulf Andersson in that list. I used to say he was by far the worst voice actor in all of Payday 2, but then we got Ethan and Hila. Now I'm not so sure.
