Hey guys! Here are the simplest and easiest steps for payday 2 splitscreen.

BEFORE EVERYTHING: Make sure you launch payday, and set your resolution to the lowest, and make sure the game is set to windowed, so that it's not full screen. Do not do the window bordered setting.

Setting everything up: time est. 45 mins

Step 1 (account): Make sure you ask a friend who owns payday if you can borrow his username and password. I know this isn't allowed in steam, so to be honest with, i'd rather ask my brother, sister, cousin etc. If you have a friend who doesn't know you IRL make sure, you do not ask him/her, and anyways, asking him/her so, may get them suspicious. Family sharing won't work, since if you open the game, the other account can't play the game they are sharing/receiving.

Step 2 (controller): there is no other way to play this game splitscreen if you do not have controllers. The best thing though, is the fact that you do not need 2 controllers. You can just use 1 controller and make the other use a keyboard/mouse.

Step 3 (installing sandboxie): First you will need to install a program called sandboxie. If you do not know how, download the file here: https://www.sandboxie.com/ and here is a tutorial on how to do install: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvfPfxvcSuM
The person who made the video has sandboxie activated (bought the full version), but you do not need to do so. Once your free trial is over anyways, nothing bad is going to happen other than waiting 5 seconds so that sandboxie opens you program.

Step 4 (online sanboxie): There is one problem with sandboxie, and that is the fact that sandboxie launched programs are offline. To fix this, do exactly this:
1. find the sanboxie icon on your desktop
2. run sandboxie
3. press configure on the top
4. press edit configuration
5. press yes
6. Make sure that "BlockNetworkFiles=" is changed to "BlockNetworkFiles=no" this makes it so that sandboxie can start programs without any offline problems.

Step 5 (running steam twice): hold your windows icon then press e, and then a box will pop up. On the top there will be a box that says "quick access". Click on the far right of the box, and paste this code: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam" here look for the file called "steam" There is a possibility that instead of it saying "steam", it will say "steam.exe" now, minimise the box and check your desktop (home screen) if you have the steam icon. If you do not, go back to the box, and rightclick "steam" or "steam.exe" and hover over "send to" and press "desktop (creat shortcut)" Now steam should be on your home screen (desktop). Now in your open steam, log off your account. Now right click the steam icon, and click "run sandboxed" now sandboxie will open, and click "defaultbox" then press "ok". Now login to your friend's steam account. Make sure you tell your friend to give you their code they received by mail. And then launch steam again normally, Login to your own account.

To keep note (window issues): Now you will be able to launch payday 2 twice! Hooray! But there is one issue, and that is the fact that only the selected windows work. Pretty annoying.
The fix will be shown in step 8.

Step 6 (Creating a lobby) Now in one of the windows, using whatever device for gameplay, create a lobby. Then in your lobby, press invite friends. You should see a popup showing available friends. Even if you are using your controller, you are able to use your mouse. Invite your friend which you are using as a different profile. Now switch to the other game. Like before, even if you are using a controller this will work, all you have to do is press the shift and tab buttons, to have your steam overlay. press on your all friends button, and right click on the friend you have, and click join game. Congrats! You are now in the same lobby.

Step 7 (size sacrificing): There is one problem, and that is that both games can't fit the whole screen.
To fix (only apply these rules if you have a different monitor or a TV with you, If not, jwe are sorry, because bordered games will automatically navigate to the top left, so you can't play properly):
Fix for laptop users (only works on windows 10): If you have a laptop, connect your computer to a TV closeby, using HDMI cable. Check your laptop if you have a HDMI port. Keep note, not everyone has a HDMI port on their laptop. Then press F8 on your keyboard and press extend. Now drag one of the games to your tv's screen.
Fix for desktop users: Connect your monitor to another monitor, and just drag the file to the other monitor.

Step 8 (no more windows issues ): Download a program called windows borderless gaming from this url link: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
and then extract the file, and right click on "windowsborderlessgaming" or "windowsborderlessgaming.exe" and hover over "send to" then press "desktop (create shortcut)" now, in your homescreen (desktop) launch windows borderless gaming. Now back in payday, press F3 in your keyboard, and the game will be be borderless and will have no more click on window to play issues.

Step 9 (enjoy your game!): just enjoy it xd

Ok, so i set everything up, how do i open it normally? Time est.: 4 mins
Step 1: connect controller
Step 2: log off actual steam
Step 3: Open steam twice, login to your account in one, your friend's in other
Step 4: launch payday twice
Step 5: arrange size options
Step 6: Invite to lobby
Step 7: launch windows borderless gaming (since you got the game set to bordered, it will automatically be bordered)
Step 8: have fun!
