You can also start a crime spree and make it into a VERY high level to claim rewads later but by doing that you might skip most of infamy which reduces your experience and knowledge of the game per infamy so i think its just better to get infamous the normal ways
They're both kind of the same thing, just different names.
Uh... No.
Prestiging in Call of Duty usually has different meanings, I believe, usually based on game. In Call of Duty Black Ops 2, you get the ability to select any one gun to use for the rest of the game.
In PAYDAY 2, going Infamous (which is a very different thing) only puts a special number next to your name in Roman numerals and gives you either a trashy mask or an EXP Boost. Or, you get a special boost for your Skills.
They are not the same thing. Stop saying they are the same thing. You are making enemies by doing this
Uh, yes. It's the same concept as prestige in earlier COD games. Start over from the beginning, except with a fancy tag next to your name. MW2 gives bonuses like more weapon loadouts, PD2 gives you tier cost reductions for skills, bonus XP, and some unique masks.
Drama queen.
I'm talking about the exact meaning, prestige indicate how famous or important a person is, while infamy is a way to negatively affect the reputation of a a person.
Torchlight actually has something similar to this with heirloom items, after retiring a character you can choose one item to heirloom for the next character to use, and that character can use it immediately as... at the very least the requirements to equip said item are lowered by 95% if not outright removed, and each time you heirloom the item it gets stronger, so even if its a top teir end game super item, a level 1 can use it essentially out the gate, might have to wait till level 2-3 but it wont take long.
In payday 2's and torchlights case, the consecutive effect of doing this over and over is noticable, as each time you do it in both these game the path to do it becomes easier and shorter (payday with bonus EXP, torchlight with unmatchable items early on) to encourage repeated use.
cant speak for the other two though, as i would have to play them.
But my point being is at the end of the day, it has many names, infamy and prestige are just two of the many ways the "new leveling+" as i shall dub it may be called.
Edit: Oh and for OP's question, yeah uh when you do infamy, just make sure to spend all the on hand cash you can before you do, unlock weapon slots, mask slots, you name it, not much point in buying weapons though, that was to keep some cash ready to spend on skills before, but now that its free... not much point to that, otherwise it is entirely at your descretion when you decide to infamy.
