Any better ideas? My wifi + rig are fine. The "time remaining" just seems to keep climbing infinitely.

Hit the button that would normally be play or launch, it will launch a little slide loader, it will tell you how much time and how far the install has been, its a steam issue, its not your PC

Nope. I even have a widescreen, I would've seen it.

There's no fix, it's working as intended. Payday 2's updating system takes some time doin' a bunch of stuff with the files after they've been fully downloaded. The time it'll take varies depending on what storage system your PC's using (if you have an SSD it'll be super quick), but wait a bit and it'll finish up eventually.

Check your download speed, hope it has some momentum in installing

Guess I'll post my update copypaste thing, although it's redundant now that you've decided to just reinstall. Anyway nothing was wrong, should probably check the disk activity in the download manager instead - the progress bar is pretty vague.

Please use the search function. Just one more ontop of the pile of LARGE UPDATE threads I guess. Here's your pre-constructed answer.

The time it takes pd2 to update is mostly spent writing to disk, since it has to decompress the bundle files, patch in the new files, and then recompress them.

Effectively it clones the bundle files while doing that, which is responsible for the space it temporarily takes up. It's not the greatest, but that's the deal.

If you look at the "downloading" bar you'll notice that almost all of the time is spent writing to disk,
while technically all of the files to download have finished - which makes it appear to be hanging at 100% while it's still repackaging.
