Vault Key Never Works
Every time I have bought the vault key on a Bank Heist, the Vault Key NEVER WORKS. Why has it not been fixed, and what is the point of keeping it if it was replaced or something???

It (like Big Bank) can take a few tries.

This is because keychain, and you have to find the right key.

You have to try it multiple times - it does not always work on the first attempt

It's RNG based, keep trying.

You could bring your own key

Replace key with saw.

best to setup a drill, then try the key chain, most of the time the key chain wins

Just place a drill before you start trying the keys
Even if your luck is null and you just can't get it after 40 tries, the drill will do it

My record was 68 tries for one door...
Then RNGesus took pity on me and opened everything else on the first try.
Yup, the asset isn't providing you *the* key.. it's providing a keyring with many keys attached, and your character is trying each key one at a time; so keep using it until it works.

Even when stealthing, I generally bring trip mines and a saw to Bank Heists.
Both get you through quicker than trying the keychain over and over :conwayshrug:

I do often wonder why we have a keychain, what else can we open up?

Obviously there's a key to all of our doors, our van, our Longfellow, etc. on our keyring.

But it isn't our keychain, it's the bank's keychain !
(normally the deposit box keys and the keys to the small safes would be on it as well, but this is payday 2, so...)

How do we know it's the bank's keychain? The asset is called "Vault's Key" not "Vault's Keyring"

Because it's calling on the key chain/key ring function in the sourcode :steamhappy:

Don't all vault keys do that anyways? What's your point?
